Nice, compact set.,

The dishes came all in one piece (none broken or chipped), and they look simple and nice. Perfect for a family with young children. I would have given 5 stars but one of the smaller plates has an obvious flaw in the blue paint around the edge--a permanent smear. Other than that a fine set with cute coffee mugs.

I replaced my 25 year old set of Corelle plates with this new set. There was nothing wrong with the old set, I just wanted a change. The quality of the new set is just as good as my old set. I like the fact that the cups are bigger, more like a mug. Good value for the money and I would buy again.

These dish sets have quality issues. I ordered 3 sets (12 place settings) and needed to call World Kitchen for 2-3 replacement dishes per set. World Kitchen was courteous and said I'd have new, free dishes within 10 days. The flaws included smeared blue glaze, other glaze problems, and a dent in one bowl.
All the bowls had little pinpricks on the bottom, probably where the glass was poured for molding. Most of the blue stripes were a little uneven at the point where they must have started and stopped. I decided to ignore those two flaws. If you like Corelle's light, thin, and damage-resistant dishes, this is a pretty set. We're keeping ours. Just inspect your set carefully when you first receive it.

This is a very nice set, but if you are a big cereal eater, the bowls are kind of small. Overall, the set is durable, lightweight, and does the job.

I bought this item after hearing that the plates would not chip. This is helpful with small children! We love the plates and dishes. The are light enough for children to carry to the table. We really don't need the mugs, but they came with the set.

Exactly what I wanted, stacks nicely, light weight, good size, sturdy, looks nice. The only thing I don't like is the plates are very thin, so the bottom gets very hot to the touch when you put piping hot food on it. For people who don't eat sitting at the table, it might be an issue.

My wife and i had just received an amazonc.com gift card for our wedding not more then two months ago. Believe it or not out of all of our generous gifts and amount of them that we are thankful for we didn't get any dishes. We looked for awhile at different flatware at every store and websites and decided to go with our corelle set. We wanted a set that would last forever and we could tell our future kids that we had since we were newlyweds. It's a style we liked, we've dropped a plate already and not even a chip on the edge was a result so they are strong. They're also very thin and barely take any space in the cubbards. Basically we like them so much we ordered another set of so we could have service for 8.

Very attractive, dishwasher and microwave proof. I think they should leave off the cups and cut the price. Who doesn't have cups cluttering up the cabinet already?

Corelle is great stuff, it takes rough handling without chipping or breaking (Corelle is a laminated, tempered glass that resists all measures of damage):
- it's dishwasher and microwave-safe; - it's lightweight without being too light; - it stacks in a nice, small profile; - and a set like Cafe Blue for 4 here costs around $25. Honestly though, the reason to get it is because it's going to take a beating, a few drops, a lot of clinking into other pieces, and it's not going to look the worse for wear - the price is almost immaterial considering how well this set will hold up over time (I've had my set for years, and other Corelle pieces for decades, all in great shape from moderate use). I would think for families with kids who do the dishes, or for senior with shaky hands, Corelle sets like this would be ideal due to their toughness and lightness -- a few years ago, I got this set for my grandparents after they suffered a few dish-breaks during washing of their decades-old hodgepodge of fragile dishes, and while they were initially resistant to the notion of using this set they ended up using it exclusively. I love this set's look - simple yet alive without being overstated. Corelle offers the Cafe pattern in red and black as well, I have 2 of the blue and 2 of the black lunch plates, but the blue ones are more pleasant over the black (the red seem like they're being a tad too bold). I have seen the occasional piece in stores with an off-center printing of the color bands, but I haven't had that problem in my set or the extra pieces I've bought. This set includes 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls, and 4 bread & butter plates. I love the little bread plates, they make nice saucers for bowls or mugs, and they're the best size for little snacks, I use them the fastest. The bowls are a nice size as well, and of course the dinner plates are just dandy. Other classic Corelle sets similar to these come with pattern-matched, Corelle-material mugs, but this set comes with stoneware mugs that are bigger than those, and these are all blue in color. The mugs seem to insulate temperature a little better than the Corelle-material ones, but I haven't done a strict test to be sure. Oh, since I mentioned it, Corelle sells companion pieces to this set if you want to expand your set to a full service: lunch plates (between the dinner and saucer plates), 2 different kinds of larger bowls, and I think a few more odds and ends. Unfortunately, over the last few years in brick & mortar stores the blue Cafe pattern pieces have become hard to find - Walmart of all places has the red (you'd think it'd be Target due to the color) but no longer the blue. There is one thing folks might want to know about owning this set: Corelle can occasionally pick up rust stains from rusty dishwasher racks or silverware which don't seem to come off with a mere dish soap and sponge. Those stains can be defeated by non-abrasive kitchen cleanser and some elbow grease (it took me years until someone told me about trying it). So, bottom line: great value, very strong, simple yet attractive looks, and expandable. Seems like a winner to me.

When we received our plates a few of the borders had paint splotches, but we called and quickly received new ones. Overall we are very pleased with our new dishes.
