This service for four has all the qualities you're looking for in basic corelle dinnerware, i.e. durability, easy cleaning, simply pattern. However, I find the undersized salad/desert plate unappealing: 8.5" would have been better for plates to use everyday. As one other review suggests, the mugs which come with the set are more gray than white in color, and do not match the white of the set. I love the dinner plate, cup and bowl. However,the salad plate is the size of a coffee cup saucer. It's just a little small for a salad plate.

love the Corelle, it stacks easily, and fits nice in dishwasher.I bought 3 sets, and now have everyday service for 12 for under one hundred bucks!! Love the mugs, they are ceramic, tall, and a really nice cup to wrap both hands around in February in Chicago. Pattern is simple, yet has a bit of flare with the red accent. BUY !!!!

Amazon must be listenting to customer reviews about broken Corelle--I purchased the 4-pc place setting set, plus 4 salad plates from a different seller--all arrived in perfect condition, sooner than promised and packed like Ft. Knox.
To those who feel the "salad" plates in the 4-pc. setting are too small, note that these are really bread-and-butter plates. If I could change one thing about Corelle Livingware, I'd substitute salad plates for the smaller b-and-b's in the 4-pc. sets; I actually serve most casual family meals on the salad plates.
These are perfect everyday dishes--attractive, lightweight, durable--and they take just 1/2 the space of my old chipped stoneware in the small cupboards in my '60's rancher. They don't craze or stain like stoneware (most of which is imported from China), and I'll never buy anything else.

I have used these for a few years now and I love them. They clean well and take a lot of abuse. I find that the "undersized" salad plate is great if you have small children. It's the perfect size for their small appetites. I will definitely buy more of these plates in the future.

I replaced my "American Living" (bad set, that has a real expensive loss story) set of dishes with the Corelle Classic Cafe Red and can't be any more pleased. I had my eye on them at the local Kroger's and other department stores, but wasn't willing to pay the price they were asking, since I already got ripped off through J. C. Penney's. I got to thinking, why not check on craiglists because I had seen where someone in our area (Ohio) had brand new sets really cheap. They had some, but not in the pattern I wanted. So I googled it and up popped the exact pattern I wanted at Amazon.com, only there was a big difference. The price was $5.00 cheaper than at the local department stores. I purchased 4 sets and am using them and I wouldn't trade them for a farm in Texas. I have gone on line and purchased other pieces to complete my set and now have 8 serving bowls and salt & pepper shakers. Recently, I went to an outlet store where it is nothing but corelle and purchased the deeper soup bowls, a serving platter and some other miscellaneous pieces and am still under the total price of my loss from Penney's. These Corelle dishes must be made durable to with stand the roughness from a 30 year old son that moved back home. He thinks he's helping out by loading and unloading the dishwasher, but now I know he is because there are no chips or breakage in my dishes. If something is going to break, he will make it happen, but Corelle stands up to the "test of times". Some of the serving bowls that I purchased through Amazon.com were used inventory, but when I received them and washed them up they were in new condition. I grew up with Corelle. I had Corelle as a wedding gift. Was ready for a change after 15 years and swith to ceramic dishes. they didn't hold up as was guaranteed. also heavy and take up so much space in the cupboard. Came back to Corelle and absolutely love it.

I have purchased 3 sets of Corelle Livingware in the Classic Cafe Black style. They are every bit as good as the manufacturer claims. I am extremely pleased with this product as well as with the other pieces of corning ware that I own. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I love my Corelle dishes. They take up much less space in my cabinet, look good and Amazon had the best price I could find.

I got my first set of Corelle dishes as a wedding present 13 years ago. Out of the 8 plates that I got, only 3 have broken. Never any chips and all the rest of the pieces are intact and still beautiful.

I got this set because I went from green to red in my kitchen. I love them. Having been raised on Corelle, I can barely remember any plates breaking. When they do break though, watch out. There will be tiny slivers of glass everywhere, but like I said it rarely ever happens (I drop things a lot) I bough more expensive "nicer" dishes from a store that specializes in fine china, but after 1 year I had broken 1 and all the rest had chips in them. You will never chip a real Corelle piece, it's all or nothing. Side note is that the coffee mugs are pottery and not made from the same material, so they will eventually get chips and break faster than the other pieces. Not a big deal to me because I have more coffee mugs than I can shake a stick at.

I read a review complaining about the size of the "salad" plate. Well, the description calls it a bread and butter plate, and if you have been to a semi nice restaurant then you know what a bread plate looks like.

The other bad reviews that I read had to do with shipping. There are always going to be shipping errors and breakage. But, this speaks nothing about the dishes them selves. Like I said, the quality is great and they last forever. I am sure that if a box was dropped then the stuff inside would break, that goes without saying.

I would recomend this or any Corelle set to anyone out there. While the diches may seem thin at first you will get used to it. And, they will last you years to come.
