These bowls are much bigger than I though, which is a good thing. I wanted something for when I cook Asian style meals with a bed of rice underneath some meat/seafood, vegetables, fruit, etc. That requires a lot of space and nothing I had before this kept all the contents in just right. The bowls are also very dishwasher safe, durable (I've accidentally smashed it against my fair share of pots and counter tops), and double as smaller mixing bowls. Finally, they're simple and nice looking, which is always a plus.

I bought these bowls for cereal/ice cream. They are much bigger than I thought they would be, but we just love them!!!

Purchased this bowl to store and refrigerate food left-overs. I cover the bowl with clear wrap and thus it is easily microwavable right out of the refrigerator when I want to re-heat the left-overs. I like it because it does not take up much space in the refrigerator and can store a relatively large amount of food stuff.

I bought a couple of these for my son to supplement the set of dishes that I bought for his apartment at college: Corelle Livingware 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4, Classic Cafe Black. We have several bowls of this size at home but with different colors on the rim, and we use them all the time. They are perfect for large bowls of cereal or soup. They also work well for heating up leftover soup, because you can stir without spilling over the side. They are the perfect size for cooking hot cereals in the microwave if you're making one serving at a time, because they're deep enough that oatmeal or other cereals won't bubble up over the side while cooking (usually). My husband uses this size bowl for his vegetables almost every night. They're versatile and a good supplement to a regular set of dishes.

Corelle is fantastic stuff. It's lightweight and nearly unbreakable. The bowls that come in the cafe 16 piece set are simply too small for most things, so buying this cereal bowl to complement the set is the way to go. However, I would not buy this from Amazon. I received this bowl with many indentations on the outside and had to return it. I suspect that Amazon gets seconds and tries to pass them off as 1st. Your mileage may vary however. I did buy this from an outlet website and received 1st quality merchandise with a much better price.
