For more than three decades, Corelle products have epitomized the definition of durability and quality. What makes Corelle Livingware and Corelle Ultra so durable and versatile is vitrelle brand glass, composed of a unique, technologically advanced material. In a one of a kind manufacturing facility in Corning, New York, Corelle thermally bonds three layers of glass together, forms the shapes and then tempers the glass to give its final strength. Because of this process, Corelle Livingware and Corelle Ultra dinnerware have the added versatility of being suitable for reheating or even cooking in conventional, convection or microwave ovens. And with their ergonomic, lightweight design, Livingware and Ultra plates and bowls stack easily, conserving valuable kitchen space. In addition to its exceptional durability and design, Corelle products offer an array of fashionable patterns and coordinates - perfect for all kitchen decorating styles. Corelle's beautiful patterns also withstand the test of time. That's because Corelle use only food safe enamel pigments that are fired directly onto the dinnerware. You'll never need to worry about fading, scraping, scratching, or wearing off. Corelle… beautiful today¿.. Beautiful for years to come.

Corelle is great stuff, it takes rough handling without chipping or breaking (Corelle is a laminated, tempered glass that resists all measures of damage):
- it's dishwasher and microwave-safe;
- it's lightweight without being too light;
- it stacks in a nice, small profile;
- and a set like Cafe Blue for 4 here costs around $25.
Honestly though, the reason to get it is because it's going to take a beating, a few drops, a lot of clinking into other pieces, and it's not going to look the worse for wear - the price is almost immaterial considering how well this set will hold up over time (I've had my set for years, and other Corelle pieces for decades, all in great shape from moderate use). I would think for families with kids who do the dishes, or for senior with shaky hands, Corelle sets like this would be ideal due to their toughness and lightness -- a few years ago, I got this set for my grandparents after they suffered a few dish-breaks during washing of their decades-old hodgepodge of fragile dishes, and while they were initially resistant to the notion of using this set they ended up using it exclusively.

I love this set's look - simple yet alive without being overstated. Corelle offers the Cafe pattern in red and black as well, I have 2 of the blue and 2 of the black lunch plates, but the blue ones are more pleasant over the black (the red seem like they're being a tad too bold). I have seen the occasional piece in stores with an off-center printing of the color bands, but I haven't had that problem in my set or the extra pieces I've bought.

This set includes 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls, and 4 bread & butter plates.

These dish sets have quality issues. I ordered 3 sets (12 place settings) and needed to call World Kitchen for 2-3 replacement dishes per set. World Kitchen was courteous and said I'd have new, free dishes within 10 days. The flaws included smeared blue glaze, other glaze problems, and a dent in one bowl.

All the bowls had little pinpricks on the bottom, probably where the glass was poured for molding. Most of the blue stripes were a little uneven at the point where they must have started and stopped. I decided to ignore those two flaws.

If you like Corelle's light, thin, and damage-resistant dishes, this is a pretty set. We're keeping ours. Just inspect your set carefully when you first receive it.

Cathy replaced our old worn Chinese stoneware dishes with two of these sets so we'd have enough for company. Amazingly, the eight place settings stack in a fraction of the space the old stuff occupied, and the bowls nest so well there's no danger of them toppling when you lift them to reach for a dinner plate or a bread 'n' butter plate. They've become our everyday dishes. The entire stack is barely half the height of our glazed terra cotta dishes.

The plates and bowls shrug off knife marks, spoon trails and fork scratches as if you were eating with plastic utensils. A trip through the dishwasher and they sparkle like new. The old stuff was so scarred, half a can of Bar Keeper's Friend couldn't rub out the damage.

Call me sentimental but every time I set the table or grab a plate for a quick bite, I just have to turn it over and see the phrase MADE IN USA.

And, yes, I know the mugs now come from places like China and Thailand. If only World Kitchen would bring back American-made white Pyrex (anyone remember it?) or even Corning Pyroceram from France as the base material for the mugs. Ah, well. . .

The dishes came all in one piece (none broken or chipped), and they look simple and nice. Perfect for a family with young children. I would have given 5 stars but one of the smaller plates has an obvious flaw in the blue paint around the edge--a permanent smear. Other than that a fine set with cute coffee mugs.

I replaced my 25 year old set of Corelle plates with this new set. There was nothing wrong with the old set, I just wanted a change. The quality of the new set is just as good as my old set. I like the fact that the cups are bigger, more like a mug. Good value for the money and I would buy again.

We had Corelle dishes a long time ago that wouldn't break no matter what you did to them.. these new Corelle dishes are not the same quality and they're smaller in size to the originals, both bread dishes and bowls, (though the dinner plates are the same size). Also we noticed problems along the edges in that the (paint?) appeared to have a cracked look to it and appeared to be coming off.. and then there's the fact that if you drop these new Corelle (unbreakable?) dishes on the tile floor, you better yell GRENADE! so your family can jump behind the sofa in time.. see the attached video for pictures of what these dishes look like when they break. I don't know what it is but they break apart into sharp shards and I found pieces in the next room 15 feet away. One last note, the blue cups are manufactured in China.. I've seen many people complain of this as Corelle used to be an American icon of dish production. So I guess they're good for the price.. just don't expect them to last as long as the old ones.. and don't drop them if you have tile floors.
