I'm just going to get this part out of the way. If you grew up a certain...way, Corelle dishes have a class connotation. If you want to convince your social betters they're not your betters, you better choose different plates. Ok. I said it.

I, however, am able to rise above such pettiness and bring home the plates of the people. Here's why. Have you ever had children? Tile floors? Concrete countertops? Or most destructive of all, a lummox of a husband? Then you, like me, may have lost 9 of your 10 cereal bowls, and 8 of your 10 coffee mugs to breakage. Perhaps you, like me, don't always enjoy lifting a big, heavy stack of ceramic plates high up on a shelf.

I thought, there has to be something sturdier, and lighter, but that won't get scratched up by cutlery, and that when present in Chinese-made dog food won't be a lethal poison. Answer? Corelle. And the price? I paid more per setting for my old dishes than I paid for the 4-set of these.

The Mandarin Flower Square dishes look just like the picture, only prettier. The design is made with a very dark and a light shade of grey, and red. Poppy red. Coral red. Chinese laquer red. A warm red. To my eye, grey and poppy red are a strikingly lovely combination. As another reviewer stated, the design has a fabric-like appearance, not that pixelated sticker effect that is so cheap looking. They fit sooooooo much better in the dishwasher than our old set. My husband says the food even looks more appetizing on them. (Thanks, I think.)

They pattern looks like it was printed on fabric, then lacquered on to the plate. Timelessly beautiful.

I received the Corelle Mandarin place settings and found them to be exatly as pictured.
I gave one the old throw on the flow (hardwood test) and it passed with flying colors.
These are much lighter than the other dishes I purchased and I am very happy with their
looks and weight. I would recommend them to anyone that wants a good looking place setting
that is nearly unbreakable and will give good service for daily use.

These dishes are gorgeous. They wash well and stack beautifully in your cupboard. They actually save space. I get compliments on these every time I serve food on them. I only wish Corelle made more accessories for this pattern. My old set of dishes all had chips in them. These seem to be handling well. So far no chips, which is why I bought them. I'd highly recommend these dishes to anyone.

I really like my new dishes. I have owned Corelle in the past, so when I was shopping for a new dish ware set, I decided to stay with Corelle. They are thinner than what I am use to and was afraid they would easily chip. After four weeks, none of them have chipped. I have placed the dishes in the microwave and in the dishwasher and have had no problems.

I could not be happier with this set of dishes. I already owned a generous supply of the Corelle "enhancements" design and find that my new dishes blend beautifully with the old and are exactly as the pictures online depicted them. They are very durable and are just so pretty. Everything arrived nicely boxed and in perfect condition. You will love these dishes! The mugs are not made of Vitrelle as the plates and bowls are, but rather of porcelain, so they are definitely more breakable than the Vitrelle Corelle product. However, so far they seem to be holding up well without chipping or cracking and I have them stacked three high in my cupboard, so they nest fairly well, too. I have used the mugs in the microwave and run them through several cycles in the dishwasher without any issues. They are slightly squarish in design and delightful to hold - very comfortable.

This set is absolutely beautiful! I don't care if people say it looks faded, I love it. It stacks together so nice in my cabinets and it even fits better in my dishwasher than my old dishes. I love having a whole matching set and the pattern and colors are perfect IMO. I have not seen another pattern in any store that I like better then this one.

First of all, shipping was a bit slower than usual for me, however, having said that, here is my review. I don't understand the comments about the red flower being "orange", as they are NOT. They are a very bright red color, just as bright red should be. I saw a few other of the patterns at Wal-Marts the other day, and I'm very glad I picked the Mandaring Flower pattern, as it is by far the more vibrant of all the patterns. It's very lightweight, and all the items came undamaged as ALWAYS with Amazon. I recommend this pattern, it is timeless beauty, and I love diving into something different, i.e, the square look! Kudos to Corelle and Amazon for this one!

I grew up with Corelle plates. I prefer stoneware dishes. I like the look and feel of a heavy stoneware plate. That said, I also have a two year old who has decided that her purpose in life is to be underfoot. So, to keep her away from the hot stove and oven, she now "sets" the table for me. Which wasnt such a great move for my stoneware plates.
The great thing about Corelle is that it can survive a two year old trying to set the table. They are thin, and lightweight, and dont feel particularly durable. But since they can handle being dropped, I will forgive them.
The design on these is very nice. I was quite impressed upon opening my box and seeing it for the first time. I didn't notice at the time, however, when I sat down to write this review, I did notice that the red flower in the picture is much redder than it is on the actual plate. On the plate it is slightly reddish orange. But, it really isnt that big of a deal. I didnt notice until having put away my plates, and sat down to write the review.
I liked them enough that I will be buying a second set as I need service for 8.

Purchased this for the mom, she loves it. I use Corelle plates as well, they are very durable. I would suggest it to anyone looking for a lightweight dinnerware. FYI, cups are not using the same material as the plates and bowls, if dropped, they will chip, crack, or break.
