I've been living with dishes from the 99 cent store and thrift stores (hey, I live alone, I'm a clutz and don't want to feel bad if they break, and I use paper plates anyway...) I finally decided to get something nice since relatives are visiting (OK, I'm showing off, their kitchen looks just like mine did before this shopping trip). I've always admired Corelle, but never got any. I looked on line and found that even though the manufacturer seems permanently stuck in the 1960-70's as far as most of the designs, somebody in the company actually learned it is 2007 and designed a few pieces that look fabulous and modern.

I strongly recommend that you look in the stores (although Corelle is hard to find) before you pick a pattern. I was going with Simple Lines and hadn't even considered Kobe, but when I saw and compared it was no contest!

WalMart was $49.99 for the sixteen piece set and on line and at Target, etc. same thing is $69.99 up to $85.99 (plus shipping if you get on line, plus sending any broken pieces back, etc.) One of the boxes in the store "rattled" like some pieces were broken, and one of the cups in the two sets I bought was nicked and I'll have to return it, but I didn't really care about the cups a lot anyway, they just came with the dishes and bowls. The dishes look and feel great and wash up PERFECT! I expect raves from my guests and am actually trying to find another pattern called Cherry Blossom that is also in the square plate style. Looks very elegant as well as casual depending on the setting/placemat.

I bought my first 16 piece set from WalMart a few months ago. It looks elegant and has the Corelle ease of use. When I take pictures of food, it looks really good against the white backdrop. The design is modern and not intrusive. The bowls with the simple green edge look really pretty. I just bought my second set on Amazon with a bonus set of 4 smaller bowls (plain white). It arrived in perfect condition.

We debated initially whether to buy the heavier Corelle Ultra line, but I actually prefer the lightness of these dishes; unlike cookware, where heavier usually means better,I think light works fine for dinnerware. I'm now retiring my older Martha Stewart stoneware, which definitely has a frumpier look and is much harder to use. For people who like to cook a lot and don't believe in paper plates, Corelle is a very good choice.

I bought this because I was looking for dishes that were not made in China given recent issues with paints/contaminants from products coming from there. Corelle is "made in the USA" as their website proclaims--so imagine my surprise when the cups were a) porcelain not the usual material for corelle dishware and b) MADE IN CHINA. The plates/bowls were US made, though, as expected.

The set was definitely pretty, and I'm sure functions well, but since it was not what I wanted, I returned it. No problem with returns, Amazon made it easy, so that was good.
If you are looking for Made in the USA, buyer beware!

Overall, this set is an incredible value. It is an added benefit of feeling proud for buying "made in the USA."

Purchased 2 sets as a gift for my Mom--she loved them. Lightweight and easy to handle. She was disappointed that there were no dessert plates and from the looks of things, no such item exists. Not a big deal, she's got PLENTY of plates. My Dad noticed that the plates were larger than the old ones and that they were square . . . again not a problem, he just doesn't adapt well to change (who would at 87!) Overall, everyone's happy!

very nice pattern. The only reason I bought new corelle was to give my old set (25+ years old) to my son for his new apartment. The only 2 things I would change would be that the luncheon plates are a too big and I thought it was strange that the cups are made in China and the rest is made in the USA. ONE CUP WAS BROKEN WHEN THE SET ARRIVED , BUT I CALLED THE NUMBER ON THE PACKING SLIP AND IT WAS REPLACED WITHIN A FEW DAYS.

I saw from another reviewer that their Corelle set said it was made in China and mine did not. It said made in USA on my dinnerware. That must have been an anomaly.

I ordered this set on February 24th and received it the next day even though I selected normal shipping. I was extremely surprised and pleased with such a quick turn around. The dinnerware was packaged quite well and none of the pieces were broken. They feel very sturdy even though they are lightweight.

I love the pattern, minimal and clean, but quite beautiful. I was surprised at the generous size of the dinner plates and the shape of the bowls are perfect, especially for cereal. You have to have good cereal bowls. :) My last dinnerware set was heavy stoneware so this is nice change to have lightweight dishes.

I still have a few Correlle dinner plates of my mother's from over 30 years ago and I can tell that these will be with me for many years as well. I also ordered a buttercup set from Corelle and they are just as beautiful. I wanted to mix two sets that had the same color scheme and they mesh well together.

I would highly recommend these.

I have been using Corelle products for long time, this is my first time to purchase their dinnerware in the internet (Amazon), this was meant to be a X'mas gift, when I open to check this items, I was very surprised that they were second quality, badly made with bubbles all over around, compared to the ones I have at them, it is huge different, also, the set is so greasy, it seems there are some mechanic oil in very single dish. Very bad experience. I have to go to Walmart at the middle of night to get another set to replace this one.

The set purchased by me from Amazon in November 2011. By that time, I already had the exact same set for about a year after purchasing it form WalMart. The new set has problems the original did not have: four plates are not flat, so they don't stack with others, plus one of the bowls has the green paint spills. I was surprised to see the problems in that set after not seeing any problems wit the original. Perhaps, it's jsut a bad batch, or maybe Corelle has some quality control issues.
