Fifth-grader Adam Hollinger looked forward to an ordinary summer: All-Star baseball practice, reading comic books, begging his parents for a dog, and avoiding his mischievous older sister. But things get crazy when the Hollingers adopt two corgi puppies and the team’s star pitcher breaks his arm. Even worse, a serial burglar has been targeting the neighborhood, and the Hollingers’ house is on the list. When the adults of the town become stumped, it’s up to Adam and the puppies to set things straight.

Cute story! This mystery involved meeting two sets of siblings: one human, and one canine. While the boys worked to try to solve the mystery of who was robbing the neighborhood's homes, the girls were busy bugging them. But when times grew tough, they were able to work together to solve the crime. This was a wonderful start to a new series that is great for kids of all ages. I look foward to reading more. Review written by author Andrea Buginsky.
I really enjoyed reading Corgi Capers. Having the dogs play detectives along with the characters was very clever. Even though I figured out the "villain" a few pages before the characters (and the dogs), it was still fun to follow the mystery right to the end. If you have a sibling close in age, you will relate to the constant banter between Courtney and her brother Adam. And I loved the very amusing, grammar-correcting Mom. I hope the author will have more mysteries for the Corgis and the Hollingers to solve!
My wife and I get as many Corgi stories as we can. We love our Corgies! This was a terrific addition to the other books we have collected over the years!
As an avid reader and a teacher I found this novel both witty, entertaining, and captivating. Would share this book with my students and the other young adults in my life in a heartbeat.
Have you ever wondered about what your puppy was thinking? Ms. Muller did a fantastic job diving into the minds of a family of Corgis. One minute, I was seeing the world through the eyes of Adam, a young human, and the next, I was able to hear the thoughts and dialog of Corgis. I can't imagine it was easy to write in this style, but it worked. I would recommend 'Corgi Capers: Deceit on Dorset Drive' to all young readers or those who are simply young at heart. -review by the author of 'Glimmers'
Deceit on Dorset Drive (Corgi Capers Volume 1) (Val Muller)
Adam Hollinger, 5th grader is ready to enjoy his summer vacation. He has a chance to be the star pitcher for his baseball team. One day he goes with his mother to pick up his obnoxious mean older sister Courtney. They get lost on the way home. They stop at a farm to ask for directions, once there they see puppies for sale. Adam talks his mother into getting two, one for each of them.
When they get home they find their house and neighbors has been burglarized. Adams' parents are very upset with all that has been stolen. With the help of the two new pups, Adam decides to play "junior sleuth" to find the thieves.
Very cute and fun story, written from two points of view, one from Adam the other from the dogs. I would love to read more in this series. I recommend to middle grade readers, or parents read to younger children.
