5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful holiday book
This book is absolutely lovely. Tasha Tudor's trademark corgis are there, her intricate detailed illustrations, and warm feeling of nostalgia. I particularly like this Corgiville book because there are only a few words on each page, but they are high-level. I can read it to my 18-month-old without her getting bored with too many words, but at the same time, she learning...

2.0 out of 5 stars Charming but blurry!
This is a charming story and the illustrations are painstakingly detailed but VERY blurry. Maybe this latest edition had a different printing process or something. The story is lovely but if the drawings in Corgiville Fair are a 10 these blurry pictures would rank a 3. What a disappointment! As a big Tasha Tudor fan I am dismayed that the producers of the book would...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful holiday book, November 23, 2004
This review is from: Corgiville Christmas (Hardcover)
This book is absolutely lovely. Tasha Tudor's trademark corgis are there, her intricate detailed illustrations, and warm feeling of nostalgia. I particularly like this Corgiville book because there are only a few words on each page, but they are high-level. I can read it to my 18-month-old without her getting bored with too many words, but at the same time, she learning to hear and understand beautiful language. Plus, with all the busy-ness of the holiday season, it's nice to be able to sit down with your child and read a quiet, well-done Christmas book together. Overall, the book is wonderful to look at and fun to read--definitely add it to your Tasha Tudor collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Corgiville Christmas is another winner., August 14, 2005
This review is from: Corgiville Christmas (Hardcover)
Tasha Tudor has another winner with Corgiville Christmas - I have all her books - I collect children's books (waiting for those grandkids) and the Corgiville series is fantastic. The story is fun and the illustrations are amazing. I recommend all of her books for your collections.

1.0 out of 5 stars Drawings are very blurry, October 30, 2008

I like the story, and the book but the illustrations are terrible. It looks like they did not line up the plates correctly and the drawings are blurry. Do not recommend for this price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Corgiville Christmas, December 7, 2007
This review is from: Corgiville Christmas (Hardcover)
I was somewhat disappointed in the drawings in this book, as they seemed not crisp and clear. Also it was apparent that one of the pages was out of order!
Overall, this book did not measure up to expectations. Thank you for the opportunity to express my feelings!

5.0 out of 5 stars An icon of illustration and story-telling shares another gift with us, January 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Corgiville Christmas (Hardcover)
Well, I feel sad to see all the nasty one-star reviews here. I wonder if these people thought for even a moment that an artist's style may change over the years, or that it's possible an elderly woman's hand might not be as steady as it once was, or about the tremendous work, energy and time it would take to illustrate a lengthy book like this? This book was published in 2004, when Tasha Tudor would have been 89 years old. Before complaining about illustrations which are less precise than Corgiville Fair (published in 1971!!), perhaps these individuals could take a moment to marvel at the contributions of Tasha Tudor, and to thank her for sharing this Christmas card with us.

Ms. Tudor's love of animals and old-fashioned values shine through once again in this book. Yes, the illustrations are more free-form/less precise than the books she illustrated decades ago. That is to be expected-- no one's style remains exactly the same over the course of a lifetime.

Many artists struggle with being "type-cast", and it seems some Tasha Tudor fans here are rejecting work that is different from the work of previous decades. As for myself, I'm grateful to have been able to read another sweet Corgi adventure from one of America's most beloved children's book illustrators.

Thank you Tasha Tudor!

1.0 out of 5 stars Corgiville Christmas book review, December 16, 2008
This review is from: Corgiville Christmas (Hardcover)
I wish the book preview function had been available for this book before I bought it because I wouldn't have bought it. My daughter has a Corgi and I thought this would be a cute book for her to have. The illustrations in this copy are quite poor in quality - very grainy and hard to see. From the reviews I thought they would be spectacular. Maybe I got a bad copy? Who knows? We were quite disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Endearing story with the BEST pictures!, August 2, 2008
This review is from: Corgiville Christmas (Hardcover)
I truly felt that Tasha had painted her heart out in this lovely Christmas story which was a memorial to her beloved corgi Owen. When you look at these pictures - which are painted later in her life, and are a reflection of her evolving style - you can feel the love she had for Owen. I thought they were so endearing - almost magical......as if they were from a dream. This is one of my very favorite books from Tasha, and I am so glad that she published it.
