I love Coriolanus. He's the bad boy of military generals, because he refuses to be anything other than what he is. You won't find a Roman General MacArthur with prettified poetic/political ambitions here--what you get is Coriolanus the warrior--the lion you want leading you into battle.
Oh, and it's a rip-roaring metaphor for the actor hewing his way out of the claustrophobic, intimate circle at center stage (his mother's arms) to take a hostile audience by the throat and rattle some artistic sense into it. Arkangel did a great job, as usual, with this performance. |
