Anachronism,
By
This review is from: Cornbread and Caviar (Paperback)
Bob Jones Jr. was an odd character. In some ways he was very progressive. Especially in his relationship to the arts and the programs he established at BJU. But, at the same time this book was a difficult read for me in part because of Jones adherence to some very anachronistic ideas and at other times do to the agressiveness of the language he uses. This book is a good look into the life of Bob Jones Jr. but at times he seems like a [...] old man, he was 73 when the book was published. I find myself having very mixed feelings about him. While I admire much of whathe accomplished and respect some of the possitions he took, I have very little patience for some of his positions especially for his position on race andcivil rights issues.
But, all that aside Bob Jones Jr. is an important figure in the history of religion in America and this book does provide insights into who he was.
