Book Description

CORNERSTONE is the story of Nalena Maxwell, a girl who's been dubbed The Waste at her new school, due to her mom's obsessive paper hoarding. Nalena desperately needs
something to change in her life. But when she receives a sign (and it's the
wrong dang one) that invites her into an ancient community, EVERYTHING changes-
what she knew of her family and her life and her future. While seventeen years
worth of family skeletons come crashing into Nalena's life, it is the boy...the
one with eyes as clean as Jesus...that steps up to help Nalena figure out what
he already knows about her...
CORNERSTONE is the first installment in The Cornerstone Series, by Misty Provencher.  It is a fast-paced, young adult paranormal romance that adults will both enjoy and won't be afraid to share with their teens.

From the Back Cover

Seventeen-year-old Nalena Maxwell, known as The Waste at her school, has received a sign to join an ancient community. She'd know that, if it wasn't the wrong dang sign. But Garrett Reese, one of the school's most popular athletes and a boy with eyes as clean as Jesus, knows exactly what Nalena is and he knows about all the family skeletons that are about to come crashing into her life...

About the Author

Misty Provencher lost her literary agent in 2011. Rather than jumping back onto the publishing merry-go-round, Misty followed her gut desire to connect with her readers. She decided to release her debut novel, CORNERSTONE, week by week, in chapters, on her blog.  The outpouring of support and positive response to the book was astounding. Pushed to safeguard the ownership of her work, Misty released the book digitally and in paperback. However, the first five chapters of the novel can still be found on her blog.CORNERSTONE is the first book in her young adult, paranormal fantasy, Cornerstone Series. Misty can be reached through her Nothing Cannot Happen Today blog, on Twitter, Facebook, and through email at: misty_pro@msn.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nali & Garrett= swoon worthy November 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm always a bit peeved when books jump straight into the action without letting me fall in love with the main character first (the exception being mysteries, of course ;). Misty Provencher obviously knew what she was doing when she wrote the first chapters of Cornerstone. I couldn't help but sympathize with Nalena because of her house filled with paper, the questions Nali's mother refuses to answer and the strange powers that begin to surface in her mind and body.

Nali's life is thrown out of whack and I was left flipping pages as fast as I could to find out the answers as Nali did. The action was fast-paced, intense and so well written that I couldn't help but be immersed in the story.

And my-oh-my, Ms. Provencher outdid her self with her male lead- Garrett. The scenes between Nali and Garrett had my heart turning to goop and hoping so badly they would end up together. Garrett is strong, self-assured and above all, truly dedicated to Nali. Plus, he's hot and so dreamy! Does it get better than that??

I must admit, I'm hooked and am eagerly awaiting the next installment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooked on this series! August 23, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Misty Provencher's writing style and the pacing of this novel really drew me into the story. Nalena surprised me by not being the usual whiny or snarky main character found in most YA books. It was refreshing to read something that felt unique in this saturated market. It was funny, romantic, action-packed, heartbreaking and I loved every page. Looking forward to reading more in this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written, original story June 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Nalena is known as The Waste at school, because of her mother's bizarre obsession with paper. But Nalena's life gets a whole lot more bizarre when she receives a sign that she isn't who she thinks she is. Neither is her mother. And that knowledge is going to change everything.

I loved Cornerstone. Seriously. Why? 1) While there are familiar elements in common with many other teen paranormal romance stories, there are also a lot of original ideas and unique characters. 2) Nalena is no wallflower. While she is head over heels for Garrett, she won't take any nonsense and gives as good as she gets. 3) Misty Provencher writes beautifully, and the editing is pretty good too. The pace was great. There was a good balance between budding romance, mystery, tension and adrenalin filled scenes. 4) I like the message that fear weakens us. As Nalena is instructed: Don't bring fear into the fight. Overall: highly recommend this.
