It's been one year and i am very happy with this hot plate. The digital display is perfect, no guess work on how hot your surface is. Heats up very quick and Amazon got the best price compared to fisher scientific or any other rip off lab supply companies. Did I mention this is great for my Bialetti stove top coffee maker too?

This item is sold as a "scientific" lab quality hot plate at a premium price. The digital thermostat is grossly inaccurate, when set at 175 F the center of the plate read 154F consistently and as the plate was scanned with a digital thermometer the edge of the plate read 54F ....... consistently, absolutely no thermal uniformity! When a request was made for a return label, the merchant insisted it was an anomaly and a replacement would be shipped along with a return label for the original unit. I suggested they test the new unit prior to shipment ........... the new unit was never received and after considerable correspondence and hassle, a ship label was received via email and my account was credited.
