4.0 out of 5 stars Current version comes only with plastic lid
OVERALL: This product is a solid workhorse. I have six, and they are favorites for convenient storage of leftovers. They stack and are durable. Unlike plastic, the stoneware cleans completely and does not transfer odors. The size is right for 2 normal servings (~1 cup) or one super-sized serving (15 oz.) which can be frozen or reheated in the same container...

3.0 out of 5 stars CorningWare Grab-It's
Good, but not as good as the originals. You can not use these on the stove top. the old originals I have can be used on the top of the stove. Good for oven or microwave use.

OVERALL: This product is a solid workhorse. I have six, and they are favorites for convenient storage of leftovers. They stack and are durable. Unlike plastic, the stoneware cleans completely and does not transfer odors. The size is right for 2 normal servings (~1 cup) or one super-sized serving (15 oz.) which can be frozen or reheated in the same container.

If this CorningWare's Grab-It dish still came with the original version's glass lid, it would definitely rate five stars. The current version, however--despite Amazon's product description, which mentions glass AND plastic lids--now comes with a single (opaque) plastic lid. Handy enough, but not as durable as the glass lid or as convenient.

FOR WORK: No one would expect a spillproof seal from the glass lid. I wouldn't count on it with this plastic lid, either. If you are taking something to eat at work that contains even a small amount of liquid, consider leaving this lid at home, and covering the Grab-It with Press N Seal or a similar film--you can poke a few holes in it to vent when reheating it. If you want to use the Grab-It cover, pretest it by filling with water and holdng it at an angle. The manufacturing tolerance for the lid vary. Yours may or may not leak.

AT HOME: For storage of leftovers at home, the glass lids were superior: You could see the contents. For this version, you may want to mark the date on the side using a whiteboard marker to avoid those ghastly green surprises when you clean out the refrigerator. You can also simply use a plastic film, but then you can't stack it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy, June 26, 2006

We use these more than any other dishware items in our pantry. They go from the fridge to the microwave to the oven. Plus, they are indestructable, whether dropped, banged in the dishwasher, or otherwise abused. They are pretty small however; U can fit a can of corn or heat up a chicken breast or two in the microwave, but not much more fits into it. We have 8 for a family of 4, and we could use a couple more if we had the space. So buy extras.

5.0 out of 5 stars These things are great!, October 25, 2005

It is the perfect size for a bowl to eat out of, it has a lid so it is good for leftovers or taking to work, and having a handle is great. There are no worries about taking a hot dish out of the microwave: you just grab the handle and eat. Probably, ideal for teens or college kids. Also, they also hold up well. We have a couple that are about 10 years old, and recently bought some more on Amazon.

I love the grab-its! They are wonderful. I was so disappointed when the outlet store I used to buy them from told me that they no longer make these. So, I am thrilled that I was still able to find these online and with the lids!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I have owned three of the CoringWare 15 oz. Grab-It Dish's with Cover for several years. One was in the freezer with leftovers and was being transfered to our RV. Dropped on concrete and it broke. Rather than buy one to replace we purchased six.
We received fast shipping with a good product. Highly recommend product!CorningWare 15-Ounce Grab-It Dish with Cover, French White

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful little dish with a million uses, November 10, 2004

I bought this to use for "brown bagging" but have used it for so much more. THis little dish is great for storing leftovers or taking small portions to potlucks, all without having to change the contents to a "dressier" dish. French White is attractive enough to go with your best china and a much better value for the money.

I only bought 2 and now wish I'd purchased 8. They are heavy and appear very durable. The lid is fairly thick and has a tight seal, actually much better than expected. Wait for them to reappear on the Friday sale and save a couple of bucks. I assure you you won't be disappointed!

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning: these are Stoneware not Corningware Grab It Bowls., August 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CorningWare French White 15-Ounce Grab-It Dish with Cover (Kitchen)
My old bowls were corningware and indestructible. The only way they could break is if you dropped them on a granite counter or a tile floor. These bowls are stoneware and breakable. They look like the old bowls, but they have a rough bottom. You need to be careful when placing them on a surface that could scratch. You also have to avoid sudden temperature changes. If the stoneware is hot, you cannot add liquid, place it on a wet surface or handle with a wet or cold cloth or they could crack. You did not have to worry about any of this with the corningware bowls. I should have sent them back, but did not want to pay the shipping cost.

Many years ago, we bought four Grab-it bowls and they have served us well. They are white, _Pyrex glass_, and were made by Corning here is the USA. These "new" Grab-It bowls come from a factory in China and are not made of Pyrex. They are _stoneware_ and as anyone knows stoneware eventually chips and cracks.
