This 15-ounce oval dish measures 7-1/2 by 5 inches and is sized perfectly for baking and serving single entrees or gratins, storing leftovers for one, or freezing individual meals for later. Made of stoneware, this dish is safe to move among the oven, microwave, and freezer and will not experience any cracking with temperature changes. The plastic cover has a self-sealing gasket along its edge to keep food fresher while being stored in the refrigerator or freezer. The cover is also safe for use when reheating food in the microwave. Both the dish and lid are dishwasher-safe (top rack only for the lid) and are designed to clean easily without trapping any food residue. CorningWare provides a one-year limited warranty on both pieces. --Cristina Vaamonde

Who ever says that these dishes are too small is missing the point entirely! I have used these dishes to bake, store, and freeze individual portions since I first moved out on my own (yes, like many people, my first "grown-up investment" was a set of Corningware French White)... now that I am more settled (10+ years later), I bought more of these so that I can make and store good meals for my husband and I. The 15 oz size is perfect for a single portion of stew, lasagna, potpie, etc. My advice is buy 6. If you make a large pot of stew, you will have enough for 8 portions - eat two, freeze the other 6. When you want a quick meal, pull two out of the freezer and warm as is, cover with pie dough and bake, cover with biscuits and bake, cover with puff pastry and bake... you get the idea ;)

It's ok, but...THINK ABOUT HOW SMALL 15 OUNCES IS!,
By Nelly "Vision Teacher" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: CorningWare French White 15-Ounce Oval Dish (Kitchen)
This dish is OK, but has a couple of issues:- Cannot emphasize this enough: THINK ABOUT HOW SMALL 15 OUNCES REALLY IS! It's not much. Even a can of prepared soup is 16 ounces. This is an individual serving size dish. I know they give you the dimensions...but they should call it a "single serving" dish or something, just to be clearer. If in doubt, get out a ruler and look at how small 7 x 5 inches is. - The lid could be a lot better: It would be nice if it was clear, or had a vent. As it is now, you have to position it carefully in the microwave so the dish does not "seal" while cooking (which will ruin it). Also, the lid kind of "dips down" into the dish - it should be the opposite - "domed" - so you can fit a bit more food in. The concave shape means that if you fill the dish to the top, some will squeeze out when you seal it. Thus making it...well, more like a 14-ounce dish! :-) - That being said, if all you want is a teeny dish to heat up a little bit of something for yourself, the quality is good and it will do the job.

bad fit,
This review is from: CorningWare French White 15-Ounce Oval Dish (Kitchen)
The oval dish was as I expected but one of the covers doesn't fit. The other cover fits both dishes but is difficult to use even when I preheated it under hot water to stretch it out.
