The CorningWare 23-Ounce French White Oval Dish is the perfect size for two people, for so many things -- marinating a small piece of meat or fish, a serving dish for vegetables, baking a small casserole, defrosting small items in the microwave. I can't imagine why Corningware stopped producing them.

Very poorly packed so when I received my package it was broken in pieces. I emailed the company so they can reship another one. I waited 2 weeks and then I emailed them again about the status and guess what they never reshipped it to me. It took me a total of 1 month to receive my order, so not to dependable.

Product chips very easily. I banged one dish into another when putting it back in the cupboard, and it chipped. My old corningware (shadow iris pattern) is much hardier.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the lid is difficult to secure. I've mastered it, but my 12 year old can't seem to figure it out. I do really like the lids and the steam vent for microwaving food, especially beans. My microwave is much cleaner now that beans don't explode in it regularly. I also appreciate how these stack on top of each other when storing multiple containers in the fridge. That was always a downside of the larger corningware casserole dishes with glass lids.

I would prefer a slightly deeper dish, like the old 24 oz containers (with the handles and the poorly-fitting plastic lids), but this works. It does make a great single-serving leftover dish.

I am concerned these dishes won't be very durable, so I am not certain I would purchase these again.

I had searched forever for a nontoxic alternative to heating up frozen dinners in their own plastic trays. Until I found this CorningWare 23" oval dish, none were satisfactory--too big, too narrow, too deep, too wide ... This one is perfect. I often take frozen LeanCuisine or similar frozen entrees to work. They're great and a relatively healthy choice for busy folks like me--as long as I don't have to risk the outgassing of toxic chemicals from the trays and cover when heating the food ... This CorningWare 23" oval dish is perfectly sized to pop your typical frozen entree into before heating in the microwave. It's also a perfect single serving au gratin dish ... great for eggs florentine or eggplant parmigiana. It's also sturdy, easy to clean, has good eye appeal. A real winner.

I've owned two pieces of Corningware for more than 40 years and they are still in use. I was looking for some crock-type containers for reheating leftovers in the microwave, as well as cooking in the oven. This is the best thing I've seen for my purposes. It holds enough to asemble an entire meal for one. I bought 2 of the 23oz oval, and 2 of the 24oz round, and like them so well that I ordered two more of each. I read somewhere that the lids are hard to get on and off, but I've had no problem with mine. If you save left-overs to use on another occasion this item is perfect.

I ordered this item after trying another size that I really liked, but when I received this one the lid did not have the blue "vent" in it as shown in the picture. It came with just a plain white lid.

You cannot find this size at any local stores (Bed, Bath & Beyond, Linens and Things). It fits perfectly into our toaster oven, and cleans like a breeze. Bought 2 so one is in the dishwasher while one is being used. Love them!

I've had this and a set for so long, and it lasts forever. You can bake in it, store, serve, microwave food, put it in the dishwasher for over 25 years, and it STILL looks brand new!

If you're going to buy any set or piece get CorningWare! It really is the best, and it's priced well for anyone on a tight budget. Even if money is no object, this is one in the set to get!
