4.0 out of 5 stars Purchased for Potty Training
I'll keep it brief. I bought this doll simply to potty train my now two year old. I knew it was a little early to start potty training, but I wanted her to be familiar with Emma so wnen we really started training, she'd feel like a mommy training her baby. The doll is very durable and can get into the tub too. She's very simply dressed, but there are other clothes...

(REAL NAME)
We bought this doll for our daughter's "potty day" (with the help of Potty Train Your Child in Just One Day), and I wasn't that thrilled with it. First of all, although Emma (the doll) is learning how to pee, she looks like an infant and my daughter kept wanting to put a diaper on her, feed her a bottle and put her to sleep for her nap. They should make a toddler version with hair and a sippy/straw cup. My second problem with Emma was that I was under the impression that she would hold her pee until I pushed her belly. This is not the case, it started to leak out whenever I gave her the bottle. Pushing on her belly just increased the stream. So I had to feed her on the potty so she would pee at the same time. Or I had to feed her lying down and keep her that way until it was time to pee. Needless to say, she had a lot more accidents than successful potty trips. The third thing is that it was hard to get the bottle in her mouth, perfectly wedged in so that the water would go in her mouth and not dribble out the sides. On the plus side, the only way I got my daughter to drink enough fluids to pee 8 times on the potty was to fill Emma's bottle with juice because she loved sucking on the bottle. Again, though, it was difficult to keep up the "big girl talk" when she's sucking on a bottle and wanting to be a baby like Emma all day long. From what I understand, this is the best doll that pees on the market, so I guess you still might have to purchase it, but if you can find something a little better, go for it. And try to find it in a store, I got charged $15 for shipping.

The doll is very durable and can get into the tub too. She's very simply dressed, but there are other clothes available for her. Most importantly, she doesn't "wet" until you press her tummy so if you're looking a doll that will eliminate on command, then this is it. Nothing to break, very little stuff to lose so it can easily be passed on to another child.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall fine but somewhat disappointing, September 10, 2007

We bought "Emma" specifically for our 15 month old who starting potty training herself. She loves the doll. We find it hard to use. Just as another reveiwer described, it is difficult to get the water in using the supplied bottle. It is hard to squeeze. You have to smash Emmma's face in and then the water spills out the sides.

Also disappointing is this company's version of "anatomically correct". O.k. if you call a tiny hole the diameter of a pencil tip "anatomically correct". I expected my daughter to see something at least resembling the area where her own urination occurs. So I believe the educational value in this aspect is lacking.

The fact that the limbs are hard to position is probably due to the fact that it is rated for 3 and up and our daughter is just not able to move the stiff limbs into position.

Overall, I am disappointed with the doll, but we do use it and my daughter likes it so I just wish we had paid less for it, then we wouldn't be as dismayed with the quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars More fun than you think!!!, January 26, 2007

I thought that because there were no buttons or batteries that my three year-old daughter would not enjoy it but I was wrong. She loves it!!! This doll goes every where that she does. I purchased this doll to help with potty training and it did the trick. This is a quality doll, that when you squeeze her tummy she can go potty. Feeding her the water is a little hard because you have to make sure you get the bottle in her mouth all the way. But she doesn't care if she spits the water up or if she actually goes potty. She also loves taking her into the bath tub too! Not as expensive as other dolls but well worth the money spent!

smells great, is very cute and i love the fact that it tinkles in the potty or diaper, i thought it would help to potty train my daughter, but she lost interest quickly and it didn't train her at all...she does like to take baths with it...you have to make sure, like other wet toys, that you drain the water daily so it doesn't get yuchy...not worth the expensive price tag in my opinion...

Well, I bought this to assist in my daughter's potty training, and for those purposes, it actually worked pretty well. She does like the doll, and continues to play with it. I will say, however, when it came time for my daughter to try to do her pee pee in the potty, she actually pressed on her belly and thought it would come squirting out. HA! That was pretty funny. But the doll did help I think. It is a pain to get the liquids into her without leaking them all over, and she also does drip when you sit her up...so you kind of have to pull her underpants down and put her on the potty rather quickly. She does also go in the bathtub, but my daughter kept getting scared when she would fall over and "drown"...so she sits next to the bathtub. As other reviewers noted, she smells wonderful, which is kind of neat. Overall, she's cute, she served her purpose, and my daughter likes her. I'm glad I went with her instead of the expensive, battery operated, you must buy our diapers and our food model...what a pain. She's pretty low stress on the parent. Worst case, you get water on your carpet. Not a huge deal.

I bought this doll to help with potty training. It didn't work exactly as I expected. The diaper got wet as soon as the bottle was put to her mouth and she didn't hold the water until she was squeezed as I was expecting. This was key to the method I was trying. Other reviews I had read said it had worked well, so maybe I just got a dud. As a doll, however, my daughter loved her so much she wouldn't let me return her. She is the favorite doll of my daughter. She is a good size/weight, is durable and smells good, so as a doll to play with she is great!

Very cute! my daughter loves her. have yet to master the 'drink and wet' feature. not the easiest to use - low on functionality say if you are using it to toilet train your child - but i would certainly buy another one based on all of the other features.

I bought this for my daughter for her 5th birthday. The pee-ing mechanism doesn't actually work and the diaper that's included is way too big for the little baby. My daughter's pretty frustrated right now and I don't blame her. We're going to take it back to the store next chance I get. We'll just stick to the dress-em-up dolls next time.

This doll did help my 2.5 year old daughter potty train. However "Emma" does leak when the doll sits up. The directions say she will only go potty when her belly is squeezed, but she does leak water while sitting there. If you don't mind the mess the doll helps with the concept of potty training.
