Need to cut a branch that's a bit thicker? You'll be yelling "Timber" in no time thanks to the curved 13-inch razor-tooth saw blade. With teeth sharpened on three sides, this saw blade cuts on both the up and the down stroke, and enables you to cut twice as quickly as conventional blades. The lightweight and sturdy fiberglass pole telescopes from 7 to 14 feet, allowing for maximum reach, includes an internal stop that keeps the poles from separating, and ends with a comfortable 24-inch foam grip.

Tuly problematic,

Comments from other reviewers re the locking mechanism are unfortunately on target. The slipping defeats efforts to apply the necessary force to a saw cut -- and even trying to tighten down with big pliers (why should we have to??) will not solve the problem. Sadly, the bad news does not end there. The lopper mechanism employs a bicycle-style chain at the businss end, which would at first glance seem to be a fine idea (robust strength, and no rope chafe to be concerned about). BUT, inexcusably poor engineering of the guides through which the chain runs means that the chain itself can all too easily twist, bind, kink, and jam under load. So the pruning session comes to a complete halt, and we have to make a trip back to the barn for dismantling and clearing of the mechanism, on the workbench. This is designer error, not operator error. After having the same thing happen three and four times a day in regular use, we replaced the chain with spectra line, and thus solved the problem. Buyer beware, and what a shame that there are few other choices in the current marketplace. This could and should be a much better product.

Bad locking mechanism,

The telescoping plastic locking mechanism is of the compression type and does not lock adequately during aggressive sawing strokes. The pole extends instead of completing the down sawing stroke. On the plus side the 13" blade cuts with ease and stays sharp. I've had the same blade after 4 years of use with only the spring finally giving out. Replacement parts are available locally and at on line retailers. With a better locking mechanism I would rate 5 stars.

I was hesitating to make the purchase due to the price and review comments, but I have purchased Corona Clipper products in the past, so decided to see it for myself.
The lopper works great on branhces with reasonable diameter. The chain runs smoothly. The Razor Tooth Saw blade is sweet. I use this feature more than the lopper. On tougher cut, the extension rod SLIPS OUT. I tighten up the lock some more by hand. It works great after that. But then, the lock is too tight to loosen up. I find a strap wrench is pretty handy. You can get this at Home Depot in the Plumming section. Since it wraps around the lock evenly with a nylon strap, it should not break the plastic lock. Remember to apply the force slowly. Too bad other people had bad experiences with this tool. I hope you give it a shot and see it for yourself.
