The idea is good, you need a safe way to carry the saw, but the design is very, very poor. The channel for the saw teeth has a ridge on each side. What happened to me, was the saw wedged into the side of the scabbard and the teeth dug into the plastic. Once wedged, there was no way it would come out, without destroying the scabbard. Save your money.

I purchased this scabbard for a Corona pruning saw. I had no problem putting the saw in the scabbard, but getting it out was a very big problem. There are no instructions on how to safely remove a saw from this scabbard. i used two screwdrivers with lots of swearing and somehow I got the saw out. I emailed my complaint to Corona. Corona provided me with the instructions (along with a diagram picture)on how to safely remove a saw - why these instructions and picture did not come with my scabbard is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I can see someone struggling to get the saw out and accidentally releasing it with the resulting chopped off fingers and blood everywhere.

Here are instructions for those who bought this scabbard and are having the same problem as me:

Hold the saw handle with one hand and push the scabbard with your thumb against the raised "trigger" at the opening. Your other hand should be holding the middle of scabbard. Note: when pulling with two hands, you need to remember to pull in the same curvature as the saw blade.

Please be careful with this product.

But, the lips of this plastic item are in the path of the saw as it comes out and get chewed up right away. Looks like they didn't bother to make a prototype. I don't think it will last long.

I'm not a professional aroborist just a weekend tree cutter so I would expect for the nut/bolt to stay together a lot longer than just a few weekends! What really stinks about loosing a nut/bolt is you loose it while either in a tree or hopping between logs and the last thing you are thinking about is your saw scabbard losing a screw! I'm going to contact Corona's customer service and see what can be done.

06/11/2013 - Update
I contacted Corona about the screw coming loose and sent pictures of the defect. They sent a replacement for free (free shipping)! I really like a company that stands by their product and makes things right.

I was concerned about the reviews where they said the teeth of the saw would tear up the scabbard. Just be smart and torque the handle slightly, so the back of the saw stays against the back side of the scabbard as you put the saw in and out. No big deal.

Great little scabbard.

I ordered the saw a couple of weeks ago. It's very sharp, so I bought this to keep me from slashing myself! Fits great, and I feel better about it being stored on the closet shelf.

This plastic case works great for the Razor Tooth Pruning Saw we have purchased. Very happy we purchased it. It fits nice on a belt loop.

I do a lot of tree work and I found myself searching for the belt loop attachment in the tool box it and had the saw fall off the belt loop attachment twice in one day when I was wearing it. Luckily I managed to find the loose screw that holds the pivoting belt loop attachment on each time it fell off. The next day I purchased some locktite and put the thing back together. I have not had a problem with it since. But they may be because I bought a better saw scabbard and rarely use this one anymore. Don't waste your time with this scabbard. The corona saw is good though.
