4.0 out of 5 stars Coronado
This was a fun adventure. No big stars, not a big budget, and the locations were ordinary... but the film is extraordinary. The acting was very good; the actors look like they were having the time of their lives making this film. 3.0 out of 5 stars CORNY BUT FUN
CORONADO is reminiscent of those cliffhanger serials that filled the theaters in the fifties: big, brash, corny as all get out, but in spite of its many flaws, CORONADO manages to be okay escapist fare. The acting is pretty lame, and the storyline is not the least bit plausible, but the CGI generated effects are okay for this kind of movie, and the rousing action scenes...

The film looks like it cost $85 million to make, but it was done with digital enhancements that you cannot detect; which made the locations look exciting and the action non-stop.
It's a, take a break from life and have fun film.

The acting is pretty lame, and the storyline is not the least bit plausible, but the CGI generated effects are okay for this kind of movie, and the rousing action scenes are likewise above average. Poor John Rhys Davies (see CHUPACABRA TERROR) is again misused, but he's only in it for a few laughable scenes. You could do worse, but oh so much better too.

I am a big movie buff but I had never heard or seen anything about this movie. I saw it in a video rental store and thought I'd try it. It was great. It's an action/adventure film and it moves really fast -- never a dull moment -- and has enough plot twists that its not predictable. The main character is a young woman who, as a suprise, decides to join her fiance on a business trip. When he's not where he's supposed to be, she goes to track him down and ends up involved in a revolution in a South American country. The cinamatography was fantastic, especially the cave scenes. Also has alot of humor. After renting it I had to own a copy, I was amazed that this movie never made it to the theaters. I loaned it to a bunch of friends and they all liked it too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and witty..., May 22, 2005

...this being said "Coronado" is far from being "revolutionary" itself; Unoriginal story, same old dialogues beween the action, some quite good effects, some not so good, ok acting (the chemistry between the man in the lead role and "princess" is there), I can understand why people compare it to "Romancing The Stone" -but I didn't expect it to be a "classic", I mean; This movie isn't exactly a hit? I bought it because I like adventure-movies, and the cover of "Coronado" was inviting. I thought it was a good movie (not expecting too much, I had never heard of it before until I found it in a store today). It's something like a action-comedy-adventure, simple story, the action "a bit" overdone as usual, witty characters and the dialogue between them as mentioned -the sound is good (dts), picture rather good too (but gives a "B-movie-feel" perhaps), some of the effects were actually rather stunning, and I liked the enormous cave behind that waterfall (liked what they had "done" with the place).

So all in all, for a movie as less-famous as this one, I'd say "Coronado" is indeed watchable, and yes, quite entertaining.

(One irritating flaw was the editing of the bridge scene, as they stop the truck to check it out, well, in the next scene you see the truck out on the bridge with the lady-character leading the way, and then in the following scene they aren't even on the bridge yet. Amateurish editing, unecasasarry mistake...!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Coronado brings back memories of 80's cheese, January 1, 2005
This review is from: Coronado (DVD)
Coronado is a movie that is low budget fun that will bring back memories of 80's cheese films like Romancing the Stone, King Solomon's Mines and Remo Williams. The plot is quickly far fetched, but the laughs make up for the unbelievable. Even the bad acting is excused because the movie is just fun. The DVD also has some great special features that will make you appreciate what you just saw even more. This is a movie that was made on such a low budget that they had to wait on trains to pass by to use them for film scenes. They also used G. I. Joe model jeeps in many of the chase scenes. Although it was cheaply made and badly acted, I recommend this movie just for the fun and memories of all those bad 80's movies that we are all nostalgic for now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Watch It And Relax~!, February 25, 2005
This review is from: Coronado (DVD)
I was looking for a movie that I could just sit back, not have to try and figure everything out, nor jump every few minutes with a shocker, I found it in Coronado.
In this movie we find a young woman who travels to find her soon to be husband, but alas he is not where he is suppose to be.
Determined to find out what he is up to, she finds herself in a far-away land in the middle of a Revolution.
We have adventure, romance and humor, very likeable characters
and a happy ending. A great movie to share with the family and just giggle a little, have some adventure and have a good feeeling at the happy ending. I beleive it's well worth your time. Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Just watch a preview - that's all there is, August 17, 2011

I managed to watch 18 minutes before switching to 16x fast forward. Not fast enough. One of the most pointless movies ever, and a waste of good filmstock and a couple of otherwise decent actors.

2.0 out of 5 stars Can't recommend this, June 27, 2011
This review is from: Coronado (DVD)
Sometimes "bad" movies strike me as fun to watch at least once, but I really disliked this. It isn't so bad that it deserves a 1-star in my view, but it is rather trite and not really funny when it tries to be comedic.

Had checked this flick out several yrs ago and ran across it on the Web recently and decided to buy it for my Movie collection, a good choice I made for, it was still very entertaining and lots of action the way I like it. Money well spent and the price was great. If one haven't viewed this-un then, I suggest one should if one like good action flicks.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was like this airhead..., March 29, 2009
By
This review is from: Coronado (DVD)
who somehow wound up in like the middle of a civil war in Coronado, South America. It was like totally fun, and I like was trying to find my fiance, but I didn't for a while. And I like got in lots of fights with like this reporter. Any way, it made for like a totally fun and entertaining movie, but not a serious one. But like only if you can like handle a whole move like totally narrated by like an airhead.
