Fantastic!,
This review is from: Corporal Idaho (Paperback)
"Corporal Idaho" is a fantastic read! Devlin O'Neill's "A Maid For All Seasons" series is a classic in the spanking genre, but I did not know what to expect from this new scenario. Mr. O'Neill put my doubts to rest from the very first page. "Corporal Idaho" is an exciting, erotic and entertaining book that will satisfy any spankophile or novice. I hope the author will continue both his "A Maid For All Seasons" series and expand further into this new "Corporal Idaho" direction.

This is the first Delvin O'Neill book I've read. I will buy more. The futuristic setting does not dominate the plot. Cameron is a demoted military hero. His current assignment was a "gift" from the leader. Cameron enjoys the position as chief disciplinarian in a female prison. He has designed a stool that is used for serious offenders after they have been given 25 or more strokes with a belt, paddle or cane.
The tale is not all about his ability with tools. There is an interesting subplot revolving about the continuing conflict between Canada, Mexico and sections of the former United States. Even politics raises its ugly head. The end was a nice surprise. Cameron remains a hero and gets the girl(s).

Corporal Idaho Review,

I just finished Corporal Idaho today and the whole book was so exciting, suspenseful, and a very good read. If you want something different Corporal Idaho is the one book you need to read! I couldn't put it down and it is not like the Maid series but still very enjoyable! If you like Devlin's books this is one more you should read!

Wild and wacky futuristic spanko lit,

Hey, I've tried to develop an appreciation for Mr. O's books. I'm always searching for more literary spanko lit, which is how I would term his offerings. The guy's a talented writer, no doubt about that. But for my exacting tastes, only this one truly delivers.
The tale is a future fantasy fixating on harsh administrative punishments and illicit erotic discipline and sex between staff and inmates at a women's correctional institution after western N. America has nightmarishly fragmented into warring territories. It's got an inventive story line, strongly developed characters, some good place description, hard punishments, close to the bone sex scenes... there's just much to like in here. It's all a steaming, fantastical hodgepodge... But for me this one rings truer than any of his other offerings. I've got it on my Listmania list, "A Spanko's Dozen," as being among my 13 favorite novels and movies in the more erudite spanking genre. Corporal Idaho is M/F, and how! But if you're into futuristic spanko visions of post-apocalyptic America there's another such saga -- albeit from a strictly F/F angle. Also on my favorites list is the two-volume saga that's led off with Taking Pains [After the Change 1] and continued in After the Change, Volume II: At the Post. And as long as we're talking about the interface between sci fi and spanking erotica... I might note that the Master Himself, Robert Heinlein, (for instance Stranger in a Strange Land) was responsible for whetting my and doubtless many other budding spankos' whistles. D.O.'s militarist vision here is, I think, admirably Heinleinesque.

Near future erotic CP thriller - since republished as "Detained and Corrected",
By
This review is from: Corporal Idaho (Paperback)
This is an erotic thriller set in a near future world in which the USA has broken up and the area it once occupied now contains a collection of warring tin-pot successor republics.
Sergeant Cameron used to be a major, and a friend and trusted agent of the President of one of those successor states. But he's given up that role and taken a demotion to do a hands-on job which he enjoys much more: chief discipline officer of a women's prison. A prison in which every single inmate and guard, with the sole exception of the prison governor, appears to needs his personal attention. However, the dangerous world he has left behind may yet come looking for him ... In the words of Charles Dickens, "Those who like this sort of thing will find it the sort of thing they like." REPRINT/CHANGED TITLE WARNING This book was originally published in 2006 by iUniverse under the title "Corporal Idaho". Don't buy this if you already have the author's book "Detained & Corrected" published by Chimera Books, or vice versa - it's the same book. One of the worst publishing sins, which ought to merit at least a hundred years in the least pleasant area of purgatory, is to republish a book with a new title and without a clear warning of the name under which it was previously published to warn people who have already read it under the old title not to buy it again. This book has been re-released by Chimera with a new title, "Detained and Corrected" and a completely different cover, but as far as far as I can tell the text is identical. And unlike more responsible publishers, Chimera have not put a warning on the back cover, frontispiece or other suitable position to say "This book was previously published as ..." etc.) Absent the opportunity to send them to purgatory, I'd settle for those responsible for failing to include that information getting the same treatment as the vast majority of female characters in the book to ensure that they will not be sitting comfortably ... |
