An Economist by trade, finance was never something I actually studied that much, ironically enough. When getting my MBA, however, this book was able to translate complex finance topics into manageable day-to-day English. Rather than simply just stating theory and facts, the text went into why these concepts were importatnt. It provided context, which was great for me because I could start connecting these concepts to my past history as well as my personal financal outlook. Great text! Worth the money. Also DEFINITELY USE the online tools. They are great practice!

My B-school uses this book in our Financial Management course. I really don't have any bad things to say about it. These guys did a great job writing it. It's written in a way that really allows you to understand the material even without having had any prior experience with some of the subject matter. There are also a lot of great examples. It's very thorough. Will be a good addition to your bookshelf (and brain).

Berk and DeMarzo could achieve something that seemed impossible: an innovative Corporate Finance textbook, improving what is found in the classics, such as Brealey&Myers, Ross, Gitman etc.

This textbook is unique in using the Law of One Price for valuation purpose. Its a book that really guides you trough the process of thinking about financial questions, integrating the modern finance theory,the practical financial manager perspective and new pedagogical strategies such as the hint and partial credit system.

I have compared this book to the standard's Brealey and Myers and Ross, Westerfield. This book is shorter, more clear, more practical, and a better introduction to the field. The book also has helpful interviews with practioners. I am proud to teach with this book.

I feel very lucky that I had this book assigned to me in my intro to finance class in b-school- it's written using clear and concise language that makes sense to those who haven't had exposure to finance concepts before. I've taken a number of finance classes since, of course with different $200 books assigned for each one, and none of the other books were nearly as easy to understand as this one. Textbooks should be tools, right, that help clarify complex issues instead of making them more opaque. This book was really able to fill that role for me.

It takes forever for the shipping to come, and the book is very old with an ugly black lable "save by used book" something on the cover. I had to return it as it was not in "good condition" at all. So not worth the poor discount, and it did not come with the finance lab disk... For their price, you are so much better off buying a new book from Amazon.
