Praise for
Corporate Finance: A Practical Approach

"This book on corporate finance is a welcome addition to the already impressive work by the CFA Institute."
—Don Chew, Editor, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, Morgan Stanley

"Covers the basics of corporate finance—working capital, capital budgeting, M&A, cost of capital, capital structure, and dividend policy—in one volume. Chapters on financial statement analysis and corporate governance give context to the core subjects presented. Corporate Finance: A Practical Approach will be helpful to the student seeking to learn the field and to the experienced practitioner in need of a desk-top reference tool."
—Thomas A. King, Treasurer, Progressive Insurance

"This text is very comprehensive in its treatment of many issues within corporate finance, making it a great resource for both academics and practitioners."
—Tom Arnold, CFA, Assistant Professor of Finance,
Robins School of Business, University of Richmond

"Corporate Finance teaches future CFA charterholders what they need to know about corporate finance to be successful practitioners. The CFA curriculum, including the substance and pedagogy of this book, is a market-sensitive collaboration between sophisticated practitioners and academics. This approach and this book provide an excellent bridge between the principles and their application to corporate finance."
—Douglas R. Emery, Bank of America Scholar and Professor of Finance, University of Miami

5.0 out of 5 stars Tsylana Cigetarts, January 23, 2012

This review is from: Corporate Finance: A Practical Approach (Cfa Institute Investment) (Hardcover)
This is a well-written book, but is not a "starter" book for corporate finance. This book assumes a prior knowledge or at least a familiarity with the topic. Also, what the previous reviewer of this book failed to understand is that this book is a "CFA Institute" book and was designed primarily for the CFA and not as a general college textbook.

Overall, this is a good source and the writers did a very good job!

1.0 out of 5 stars not foundational, February 10, 2011
This review is from: Corporate Finance: A Practical Approach (Cfa Institute Investment) (Hardcover)
This book is being use as a text book in the local MBA program. 11 out 34 students have stated the books is not foundational. It address issues at a higher financial level, it fact this is part of a series to study for the CFA certification.
The text discuss issues of corporate finance in vague terms and the questions are standardize test questions for the CFA. combine the vagueness and the standardize test questions makes the text hard to follow, confusing and 10 to 11 students have already stated this is the worse textbook they have ever used. (The remaining students I have not had a discuss with and do not know their conclusion about the test as of to date.)
