Book references videos and animations which are supposed to come with the purchase of the text and accessed via access code / serial number. This is not the case. I was told by Thomson support this access must be purchased in addition to text. Very misleading. Now, I have a text with hundreds of distracting side bars referencing videos and animations for some of the more complex formulas and calculation which cannot be accessed without forking out even more money. The text is meaningless and irritating.

If you're looking for concise and clearly explained answers, this book is not for you. The author tends to go off tangent, dragging out his explanation in a long winded fashion. He probably tried to write as if he were telling a story, frequently asking rhetorical questions in a vain attempt to add more drama and stir up interest.

WARNING: The paperback edition is NOT the same as the hardcover edition! I purchased a paperback edition for use in my MBA course and ended up having to purchase the hardcover edition in order to complete the course. Amazon makes it look as if these are the same book, when in fact they are not. Very frustrating, and very expensive. If you're purchasing this book for a class, make sure you are getting the edition you really need.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn corporate finance. I just finished the first semester of my MBA. I have to say that this is one of the best textbooks I have ever used, and I was fortunate to be able to learn from the lead author of this book, Prof. Scott Smart.

One thing I liked about this book is its flow. This book starts with a brief but very helpful review of basic finance concepts, such as time value of money, and moves on to valuation methods, followed by more in-depth discussions of topics like capital budgeting, capital structure, long-term and short-term financing, options and derivatives, and etc. The organization of its content makes it very easy to follow.

Another thing that I like about this book is the way it's written. As I can attest from my classroom experience, Prof. Smart has the amazing capability to explain complicated concepts in simple languages. This book is so easy to read that you might suspect that its content is too simple. It's not! This book explains important finance concepts in a way that is easy to understand, the way a textbook is supposed to do, and sometimes with humor.

Some additional benefits that come with this book are its online contents. My favorite is Smart Concepts, which are animated slide shows of key concepts for each chapter.

Although I liked this book, it is not without any drawback. We found several errors in the text and exercise problems. However, these errors are minor and not significant enough for me to lower the rating for this book.

I thought that the book comes with a CD for SmartConcepts but it didn't. I don't have any complaints because I might not have read the description properly.

This is the book I will never sell. It's easy to understand and very useful whenever you need to re-read some points about the corporate finance.
