5.0 out of 5 stars a clear, brilliant work on authentic communication
This extraordinary book is the most ruthlessly on-target review of leadership and communication that I have encountered or expect to. Most of what's here covers not what to do, but who to BE to lead and conduct business most effectively. If you are willing to truly take on what is shared here, your business and your life will not be the same again. This book shows that...

2.0 out of 5 stars Some basic leadership insights, but drop the spirituality
The Corporate Mystic purports to be a guidebook for leaders of the future, but in reality it morphs the primarily anecdotal experiences of a consulting firm with Zen-like philosophy in a mostly ineffective effort to help the reader become more spiritually connected to his career.

As a member of a volunteer book discussion club for high-potential leaders in...

5.0 out of 5 stars a clear, brilliant work on authentic communication, June 26, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Corporate Mystic: A Guidebook for Visionaries with Their Feet on the Ground (Paperback)
This extraordinary book is the most ruthlessly on-target review of leadership and communication that I have encountered or expect to. Most of what's here covers not what to do, but who to BE to lead and conduct business most effectively. If you are willing to truly take on what is shared here, your business and your life will not be the same again. This book shows that the only obstacle in your path has been you, and assists in getting you out of your own way. I have lost count of how many copies of this book I have bought and passed on already, but many of the recipients have affirmed that it is the best book they ever read, and that it has certainly made a huge difference in transforming businesses, teams and specific crucial meetings. An absolute must read for anyone with their eyes open.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Turned Off By The Title (Mystic), September 13, 2001
This review is from: The Corporate Mystic: A Guidebook for Visionaries with Their Feet on the Ground (Paperback)
As an avid reader of many business books I had this one shelved for the better part of the year, finally cracked it open only to reveal thoughts and introspective ideas how to "become" a better person and leader. Simple and obvious points are usually the ones we overlook everyday because we are usually looking for complex solutions to our problems. But the points outlined here are practical and immediately useful and implementable. If you think the problem is "out there", read this, you'll see what you and your actions (or inactions) did to contribute to the problem and what you can do now to head off problems. A MUST READ. AN EASY READ. AN ENJOYABLE READ. YOU MAY BE PUT OFF BY THE WORD "MYSTIC" - DON'T BE!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading but there is a glaring contradiction., October 18, 1999

This review is from: The Corporate Mystic: A Guidebook for Visionaries with Their Feet on the Ground (Paperback)
While I think there are many elements and ideas in this book that are good and solid messages and reminders for leaders today, I do have a problem with that fact the book is dedicated to Bob Shapiro, Chairman and CEO of Monsanto, stating that he has transformed "business to improve the well-being of people and the planet we live on." Just a reminder: Monsanto is the manufacturer of Agent Orange and other weapons of mass destruction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Necessary reading, whether you're in business or not., May 25, 2003

The only complaint I have is that this is passed off as a business book. Nonsense!! Leave out the "corporate" words & you've got vital advice for anyone literate enough to open it. No mumbo-jumbo, either, just some solid advice on how to get ahead in life by being honest & expecting the same. Read it every few months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must be read !, July 20, 1997
This review is from: The Corporate Mystic: A Guidebook for Visionaries with Their Feet on the Ground (Paperback)
In two weeks time I read the book more than twice! Do NOT read it as a "reading book" but rather as a "365 days practice book". Ask yourself the questions and be with them. Do not try to give 'fast' answers. This book had changed my entire perspective apon Integrity, Vision and Intuition. Have yourself creating the breakthroughs in your life and in the lives of your dearests ! Ronen Ben-Naphtali, Israel

5.0 out of 5 stars A practical manual we have to consult very often., June 3, 1999

Innovation, creativity, leadership start in the individual and the Corporate Mystic distill in a very condensed and practical way how CEOs and leaders by committing themselves to integrity foster commitment, vision and innovation in organizations, and this then explains why in them, they so often fail. Today when we hear everyday these words The corporate Mystic is a must-read for every one, but more than a book to read it is a practical manual we have to consult very often

The Corporate Mystic is a book about leadership. Part One lays out the fundamental principles: Integrity, Vision, and Intuition. Part Two includes chapters on inspiring commitment, communicating with people, managing projects, and creating wealth.

I thought the chapter on communication was the most useful part of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Changed My Life, February 28, 2007
This review is from: The Corporate Mystic: A Guidebook for Visionaries with Their Feet on the Ground (Paperback)
Many years ago, a good friend of mine sent to me a copy of The Corporate Mystic. Can a book change a life? Can it alter a person's path... stimulate one to question "priorities."

Four remarkable things changed in my life after reading this book: 1) I quit my job as a Manager with an insurance company - to meet and visit with family across the country. 2) Was able to spend valuable time with my Step Dad before his death. 3) Started a new company. 4) Coauthored a book on workplace safety.

I highly recommend The Corporate Mystic... it changed my life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliance combined with a touch of elitism, October 20, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Corporate Mystic: A Guidebook for Visionaries with Their Feet on the Ground (Paperback)
I just read this book and I am still thinking about it and wondering how I feel about it. On the one hand, the book is full of solid wisdom. On the other hand, it sometimes feels as though it panders to the elite and assums that business leaders will make the right decision for their enterprises, their communites, and the earth. Of course we have seen that this is just a bit optimistic. So it is a worthwhile read but ignore the pandering to the elite.
