About the Author

D. Virtue is a registered nurse. She is the mother of a five year-old daughter. She began writing when inspired by the television show, Xena: Warrior Princess. Encouraged by friends to write an original novel, she finally put pen to paper as a result of a very vivid dream. Thus the birth of THE CORPORATE RAIDER. She is now planning a sequel to it, and hopes to eventually write an entire series of novels around these characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRAVO, December 1, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Corporate Raider (Paperback)
I could not put this book down. I found myself taking it with me to work, and then when I was at home, I would sit up until I couldn't keep my eyes open, wondering....what was going to happen next. I found the characters brought many different feelings out in me, and I have to admit, that is what a good story is suppose to do, make you feel. I found myself wanting to just shake the Taylor Character at times and ask her what'w wrong with her. But then there were times I wanted to just smack the Alex Character. But overall I found myself feeling the love between them. Great Job D. Virtue, this reader hopes to hear more about Taylor and Alex

1.0 out of 5 stars I hope this book is better then the Web version!, April 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Corporate Raider (Paperback)
As a huge fan of Xena and Gabrielle alternative fan fiction (in particular the Uber genre) I was very interested in reading this piece - but it was very hard to finish it. The writing was passable for a story that cost nothing to read, but the web version of this book was sorely in need of editing. If severe editing hasn't taken place then you will find that the book is difficult to read due to the lame dialog and needlessly complex run-on sentences. The overall idea for the story is a good one, but its one that had already been written (and better executed) by Missy Good in "Tropical Storm". I think its wonderful that exceptional fan fiction writers are getting published, but consider purchasing novels by Sharon Bowers, B.L. Miller or Melissa Good BEFORE buying this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Story, July 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Corporate Raider (Paperback)
Overall this was a very enjoyable book to read. Alex Madison's character was so intriguing that I could not put this book down!! D. Virtue did an excellent job of keeping me on the edge of my seat with the plot. Despite minor problems with grammar and editing, I was still able to really get into the characters and storyline. I can't wait for the sequel as I'm sure it will be just as exciting and fun as this one!
