Book Description

June 12, 2001 1841121576 978-1841121574 1
Why do many companies find it so hard to escape the pull of the past? Why do many individuals keep resorting to learned behaviour, the habits and ideas that may have brought them success in the past, but which will leave them adrift in the fast-moving currents of the new economy? What is the spell that keeps them so immobilised? It's the Voodoo...
And what is the magic that can release us all - organisations and individuals, leaders and the led, employees and free agents, parents and children and candlestick makers - into a world of power, creativity, connection and achievement? It's also the Voodoo...
The power comes from knowing the difference...
VOODOO is suspicious of the neat and tidy answer
VOODOO inhabits the dreamworld
VOODOO asks: Why clarify the contradictions?
VOODOO asks: Are you thrilling yourself today?
VOODOO asks: Why predict the future when you can make it?
VOODOO says: Write your own most compelling story about you
VOODOO is not in the cornflakes
VOODOO asks: When was your last life-changing moment?
VOODOOcelebrates
VOODOO is not found in the kitchen at parties
VOODOO values the vibe
VOODOO asks: In what ways should you be fearful of yourself?
VOODOO connects to a powerful future
VOODOO says: If you are failing - fail fast
VOODOO catches you doing things right
VOODOO finishes off your sentences
VOODOO practitioners punch way above their weight
VOODOO is the goal scorer never the goalkeeper
VOODOO is more than mere magic, it's your magic

"... give food for thought for the business soul." (Accountancy Age, 21 March 2002)

From the Inside Flap

When...
... the information Age has been galvanised by the internet
... your business is being driven toward online strategies
(but you're not always convinced it's through choice)
... the pace of development is accelerating and the noise levels are high
... the technology is more complex than ever
... and when your corporate body seems to be hyperventilating
... THAT'S WHEN THE VOODOO STARTS TO HAPPEN.

When ...
... you know that your people are not your greatest asset
... and your customers are not your king
... THAT'S WHEN THE VOODOO STARTS TO HAPPEN.

When...
...you've identified the opportunities of the new economy, but not on a significant commercial scale
...you've identified the opportunities, but lack the skills to exploit them
...you just can't decide what to do
... THAT'S WHEN THE VOODOO NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

Corporate Voodoo offers a framework for creating a Fast Business, either from scratch or when working with an old economy legacy organisation. And it extends its Fast Principles from work into the whole of life to answer the question: what are the sources of personal power, happiness and success in a Fast world?

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW !!, July 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Corporate Voodoo: Business Principles for Mavericks and Magicians (Paperback)
This book has woven it's magic into my thinking and view of the world - both personal and business. It's stuff that I have felt for many years but have not seen presented in such a compelling and intriguing way before. The ideas are portrayed in a very provocative, entertaining and digestible way and the case studies give real examples to show how it can be applied in the real world.

This really is a must for anyone who has worked within big blue chip companies and for those who are frustrated by the sheer arrogance and incompetency of large customer unfriendly businesses.

Most of all - it is a must for bosses of those blue chip companies and those same large unfriendly businesses that have traded for too long in their outdated "temporary monopolies" as Rene Carayol puts it.!

Get the Vooddoo into your life !
