cut to the corpse, April 17, 2010
This review is from: Cut to the Corpse (A Decoupage Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Cut to the Corpse" is the second decoupage mystery, & I felt this volume was better than the first. I bought the first novel because I enjoy cozies with a New England setting; I care nothing for decoupage & still don't, but I found myself really invested in the characters this time around. The mystery is a little far fetched (but all cozy mysteries are, so I don't consider that a flaw), but I was interested until the end.
Breanna Miller is the central character, & she just happens to stumble across one of her new friends, Tara, in bed with a dead body & conveniently holding the murder weapon. You must be a cozy fan to enjoy these types of plot devices. Like Tara, Breanna is a recent transplant from Boston & understands how hard it can be to earn the trust of the locals in a small town like Morse Point. Breanna then begins to snoop around in hopes of helping Tara. This series really does use stock characters familiar to all cozy readers, but the book still seems fresh.

A great cozy mystery, November 24, 2010

review
A cozy mystery that makes me excited for more.
Brenna is enjoying life in her new home more and more. She has found great friends and a job she loves. Her landlord Nate has become a good friend and she would be willing for more with him. And there's also Dom who isn't shy about telling her that he wants to date her.
The quiet and relaxed life is once again disrupted when a murder takes place and Brenna finds the victim. Brenna is ordered to not start sleuthing again but because she is convinced that the suspects are innocent she can't stay back.
Will Brenna once again solve the crime and will there be new developments in her private life?
I enjoyed this book just as much as I did the first one in the Decoupage series. I loved learning more about Brenna, Nate and the others. I especially enjoyed that nothing in the story is rushed and that while reading I was able to relax and have fun at the same time. The relationship between Brenna and Nate is interesting and I really hope that they will become a pair in the next book. Dom is also an interesting man but I prefer Nate.
I also enjoyed reading about Tenley and Matt. All of the characters in this series are pretty much normal people and they have normal lifes. Lucy Lawrence manages to make normal so entertaining and just great. Furthermore I enjoyed that the crime was not over the top.
The next book in the series will be out in 2011 and my copy is already preordered.

Cute and just right.
final appraisal
"Cut to the Corpse" contains everything that I enjoy in a cozy mystery. The story is interesting & intelligent and the characters are likable & great. I'm excited to read more about Brenna, Nate and what happens next to them. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries I would really recommend this series and the books published under Jenn McKinlay.

DID TARA KILL CLUE?, April 11, 2010
This review is from: Cut to the Corpse (A Decoupage Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback)
Book 2 in the cozy series - A Decoupage Mystery. Brenna Miller is the main character. When she goes to pick up the bride-to-be (Tara) for a wedding favor review, she finds Tara in bed with her fiancee's (Jake) best friend. There is a bigger problem that being unfaithful, Clue (the friend) is DEAD. Brenna and her love interests (Dom and Nate) assist her in finding the real murderer.
