Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Younger, louder, and snottier than, well, just about anything that preceded them, Pussy Galore came to both bury and praise rock &' roll--and this compilation of early EPs proves they did a pretty good job of blurring the line between the two. Leader Jon Spencer--then fresh out of Ivy League semiotics classes--spat monosyllabic hate-bombs like "Die Bitch," "Dead Meat," and "Shit Rain" into a hail of detuned guitar and scrap-metal percussion. Nowhere in the 28 songs--including a four-tune swath ripped from their full-length copy of Exile on Main Street--is there so much as a moment for the listener to come up for a breath of air. That intensity, coupled with the non-stop sneering derision, makes for an unbelievably exhilarating listen. --David Sprague

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the noise--Give Pussy Galore a listen, October 7, 1998
By A Customer
Pussy Galore is one of those bands that people either liked or hated with a passion. Their songs were collections of loud, disorienting noise that I find to be strangely appealing. Not for the easily offended, the lyrics of these songs are very graphic, especially regarding the female anatomy (e.g. Cunt Tease, Teen Pussy Power, etc.) This impressive collection (28 tracks, 78 minutes), compiled by lead singer Jon Spencer a couple of years after Pussy Galore disbanded, chronicles the band's explosive first year (1985-1986). This is different than anything you will ever come across. For that reason, give Corpse Love and anything else in the Pussy Galore catalogue a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars What all punk would be in a perfect world, May 11, 2002
By A Customer
I love this album not just for it's intenseness,
but it's genuine lo-fi sound.
There's also a blues feel in this record,
you can really hear the pain in the song "Constant Pain",
