AWAKENING AND INSPIRING,
By The Heliopolitan (Portugal) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Corpus Hermeticum (Paperback)
A classical, one of the timeless pivotal readings to start a spiritual path along the right lines. No wonder so much has been written throughout the ages based on these early scripts, how many breakthroughs in philosophy, religion and even science it provided inspiration to!
Compared to more recent translations, this OMTO's version based on an early 1900's by G.R.S. Mead preserves the strong spiritual impact such a selection of texts is forcefully bound to have. Making this kind of knowledge available to the present day seekers of the meaning of existence is truly a great service to mankind!

A review and comparison the Table of Contents and Introduction shows an inconsistency in the number of chapters. The Table of Contents lists 13 chapters while the Introduction lists 15. I didn't realize this when I ordered the book. The Introduction also states that the book includes the Perfect Sermon. When I received the book I looked through it and did not see the last two chapters or the Perfect Sermon. Perhaps these are located in another volume.

When I'm purchasing a book I expect scholastic standards to be upheld. If I would be failed for citing Wikipedia in a course, then I'm not going to even look at a published book that cites wikipedia. That is absolutely laughable. I sent it back immediately. Also it was stapled together, it looked like someone had made it at home.

This would have got all 5 stars from me if it was G.R.S Mead's translations I always love the origenal translations I really don't need them in lamens terms with that said this is a beautiful collection of writing not intended for the average Joe which would have no clue what these scriptures meant or even cared yet very special for those who are truly spiritual 4 stars from me
