A super book for improving your French!,

This review is from: Correct Your French Blunders: How to Avoid 99% of the Common Mistakes Made by Learners of French (Paperback)
This is a great book for any level of French student. I've found it invaluable as a bridge between grammar studies and French as it should be spoken. You can open this book anywhere and read an interesting discussion on conversational usage you will not find in typical grammar books. A must have, in my opinion.

This is a great refresher to help anyone who studied French in school but wants to improve the accuracy of their grammar. The examples of "blunders" are a great way to illustrate to those experienced in speaking French of the inadvertent errors they may be making. For a grammar book, kept my attention better than I thought.

Extremely, très, très, très thorough! Great for any level. I have it for both french and spanish. I think they should attach a cd for the pronunciation portion though, so you can hear it. Yes, I'm one of those people who must hear a language :-) Other than that...this is a must have book.

This is not a textbook for raw beginners, but if you are an English speaker already learning French, you need this book right now. I am a firm believer in language materials that take into account your native language (none of this Rosetta Stone 'natural learning' nonsense... I speak English, let's take advantage of that!).
Unlike typical textbooks, it organizes all the rules logically (for example, when it talks about definite and indefinite articles, it talks about ALL the rules and exceptions for their use in one place, in much more detail than an introductory textbook, focussing on mistakes that English speakers are particularly likely to make). I used to use Glanville's Comprehensive French Grammar for this purpose, but this book is much more user friendly.

Love, love, love this book! The concept is a great one - I am a high school French teacher and, too often, my students try to relate English grammar to French for a direct (and often incorrect) translation. To gear this toward anglophone helps so much. The lists are clear and concise, and most of the grammar "blunders" are very common ones that need to be addressed.
Buy this book if you are looking to improve your French and sound more like a native speaker; you won't be disappointed!

I love this book, its extremely helpful for me. But I also recognize that it is not very accessible to a new speaker of French. The book assumes you know basic French and most verb tenses and grammar that most people when they are new to learning a second language, or new to learning French may not be aware of.

Outstanding reference for anyone, especially for beginners to intermediate. But compare with reviews of similar products. Not so great for me, as I'm past intermediate; but nevertheless a good reference.

This book is a very good guide for Americans who
want to know the nuts and bolts of the French language. It's not a book for beginners though. It seems better suited for intermediate students and beyond.

This is an excellent, well written book that does exactly what it purports to do. This is not a textbook, but rather a list of trouble spots for learners and provides a basis for understanding the elements that cause difficulty. More importantly, the book is an excellent reference for those troublesome little things that we often forget.
