Schmalleger's philosophy of both teaching and writing can be summed up in these words: "In order to communicate knowledge we must first catch, then hold, a person's interest--be it student, colleague, or policymaker. Our writing, our speaking, and our teaching must be relevant to the problems facing people today, and they must in some way help solve those problems." 5.0 out of 5 stars The best textbook on corrections available!, October 8, 2000
By A Customer
I'm using this textbook in my community college course on corrections -- and I can't image how any book could be better. The book is built around a theme of professionalism in corrections and makes me want to work as a corrections officer -- and makes me want to improve the field. If you are interested in a career in corrections this book is for you -- whether or not you are currently in school.
