Amos became interested in the Muslim religion when a foreign exchange high school student, Asmir Agoes, stayed in his home. Amos, a devout Latter-day Saint, became very impressed with the spiritual stature of Asmir He was very gentle, compassionate, loving toward others, always thinking of others and putting them first. When Asmir returned home, his father had died. Asmir assisted his siblings in obtaining their education. One sister became a schoolteacher, the other went into economics. One brother became an architect, the other brother went into economics. Then Asmir finished his education in Economics at the University of Indonesia before coming back to New York University for graduate work. While spending Christmas with the Jacksons, Asmir gave them a copy of The Holy Qur'n. This book was not just a simple translation, it was a scholar's edition, containing the original text, in Arabic, with the translation and commentary. The fly leaf contains the following: THE HOLY QUR'N, Text, Translation and Commentary by Abdullah Yusaf Ali. Published by the Islamic Center, Washington, D.C. The compiler, A. Yusuf Ali, completed the work in 1934, after 40 years of study, travel, and collaboration with many noted scholars. A. Yusuf Ali writes in the Preface: "...The Qur'n indeed every religious book has to be read, not only with the tongue and voice and eyes, but with the best light our intellect can supply, and even more, with the truest and purest light which our heart and conscience can give us. Amos Jackson's deepest wish for this book Promote peace between the Christians and Muslims by revealing the similarities between the two religions, and to show the good fruits of each. Amos Jackson died on September 18, 1991, and his wife Helen brought the book to publication in 1997.

As a foreign exchange student in 1961, Asmir Agoes became an important segment of the Amos R. Jackson family. A devout Muslim, Asmir prayed five times daily. In addition, he attended Mormon Church services every Sunday with the Jacksons. He possessed a spiritual stature that inspired Amos Jackson's interest in the Islamic religion. Nineteen years later, Asmir return to the U.S. for graduate study at New York University in Buffalo. While spending Christmas with the Jacksons, he gave them a copy of The Holy Qur'n. The Holy Qur'n is considered to be essential understanding for every Muslim man, woman and child. It instructs readers to share with others the joy and peace which result from contact with the spiritual world. It also contains significant doctrinal concepts that are clearly corollary to those found in the accepted Scriptures of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This book contains an analysis of several of these concepts as interpreted by Amos Jackson. It is not intended to reflect the official position of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE is a selection from the revelations, translations and narrations of Joseph Smith, first Prophet, Seer and Revelator of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
