Enthralling!,
This review is from: Corridor of Storms (First Americans, Book II) (Paperback)
I picked up this book along with the first in the series, "Beyond the Sea of Ice" never having heard of the series or the author, in a used book store. I have never in my life been so pleasantly surprised as I have been by these two books. "Corridor of Storms" kept me up every night for a week at least an hour past my usual bedtime; I was so enthralled by the wonderful characters. Anything can and does happen in William Sarabande's vividly animated land of ice and precarious survival. The author is not the least bit afraid to take chances and write out characters in sudden and shocking situations, which keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, never taking any character for granted. I have grown very fond of Torka and his woman Lonit, who had very realistic attraction for the fatally charming Navahk. All characters are true to life, with very human flaws and conflicting emotions. More than anything else, this book has shown with striking clarity what a tenuous grip all human beings had on their very existence in the age of ice. Before I had even finished with "Corridor of Storms", I made another trip to the used book store and stocked up on the next six volumes, eagerly anticipating the rest of the saga.

Another great read!...,

It's wonderful when an author can create a sequel that's just as good as the first book in a series. This is one of those occasions. This book picks up where the first left off and thankfully is just as good. Like the first book, this story is full of drama, adventure, and excitement. The characters grow as they learn from their experiences, and new characters add more interest and plot twists. I'd recommend this book -- even if you don't typically read this type of fiction. It's that good.

SPELLBINDING!!!!!!!!,
This review is from: Corridor of Storms (First Americans, Book II) (Paperback)
I have just finished this book and the first in the series as well. They are totally engrossing. What an author to involve the reader as much as Sarabande can!!! I am a faithful reader of Mz. Auel's earthchildren and I have enjoyed these as well. Now I can't wait to start the next in the series!!! This is such a nice diversion waiting for the next Jean Auel novel to come out. I never even knew these wonderful books were out there but now that I have found them I can't wait to finish the series!!! A MUST READ!!!

Good but Strange,
This review is from: Corridor of Storms (First Americans, Book II) (Paperback)
I have read these books at least a dozen times, and I have found my patience with the 'bad guys' growing less on each read. Sexual deviancy and insanity seems to be a driving factor for Sarabande's bad guys after the first book (which was by far my favorite). Don't get me wrong. There's a lot of great writing in these books, but pages and pages of despotic sexuality and insanity really gets old, as does the creature that makes its 'speaking' debut in this book that seems to based very loosely on a spirit sacred to some Native American tribes - at least, that's the best I've been able to come up with from some searches on 'Wanawut'. Sarabande appears to be of the philosophy that given free reign, most people will be lazy, power-hungry and/or cruel, and seems to enjoy exploring the depths to which a person or group of people might sink, repeatedly, for multiple Bad Guys throughout the course of the full series. I am not quite ready to throw these off the shelf, but each attempt to reread through that junk brings me closer to doing so.

I enjoyed this sequel in this older, but very well written series. I wish I had discovered this series years ago, but I am sure glad I found it now. In a style similar to Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel, Sarabande breathes life into the prehistoric world and uses the anthropological details in a way that is both realistic and enthralling. On to book 3!

The second book in the First Americans series, this definetly does not disapoint. I am planning on buying the rest of the series. It is imaginative, well thought out and believable with a gripping and emotionally stirring plot. The characters are real and very authentic, easy to relate to and to like (or dislike as the case may be).

I found Corridor of Storms an exciting read about the personal struggles faced by primitive man. The author has a unique way of showing the thought process it takes to come to an action in each character. There is never a dull moment and I hung onto every word and as the story came to an end, I was sorry it ended.
