5.0 out of 5 stars "Rainy Day" is worth the money alone!
All the songs on this suspiciously expensive mini-album are great, but "Rainy Day" rocks! Along with "So Young", "Toss The Feathers" and "Dreams" this is the Corrs at their upbeat, Celtic flavoured best. Also the dance mix of "Right Time", whilst not being a radical departure, is quite good.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too expensive, too little, look elsewhere
This expensive ($23) Japanese import is a big disappointment. First, there are only 7 tracks, less than 30 minutes of music. Second, the CD is labled "Live", but only three of the seven tracks are actually live. The music is good, but the CD feels like it's unfinished, like part of it wasn't included, like it's actually a bootleg album. From the title, I...

From the title, I thought it was a concert recording, but it's just a random collection of live or radio or studio off-cuts. The music is good, but for 23 bucks I feel cheated. I recommend you spend your money on other Corrs albums first. Their music is very worthwhile, but this CD is not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Collectable Corrs, July 17, 1999

This review is from: Corrs Live (Audio CD)
While originally released as part of a two part tour set in Australia, this CD may not exactly live up to the title "Corrs Live", but it certainly rocks !! The non-live tracks are accoustic or non-album making this a valuable addition for any Corrs fan, the high price due solely to the fact it is a Japanese Import. The Corrs at their pre-remixing best. Buy it !!!!

This album was released only in Japan and it is also included as a bonus disc on Forgiven, Not Forgotten limited edition, sold during the tour in Australia in 1997, called Australasian Tour. But it is also available outside Japan in some special music shops and on the net, even though expensive too much, but it is a collector's piece, a rarity that every real Corrs fan should own. Anyway, I think that it would be more fair if any of the records was released worldwide and the fans would not have to seek for the records across the whole internet...

Songs review :

Runaway (live) - just on the beginning The Corrs show us that they are brilliant live players. This song and two following were recorded during Danish music festival in Langelands.

Secret Life (live) - two men, who are considered two unofficial members of The Corrs - Anto Drennan (guitar) and Keith Duffy (bass) showed here their music abilities...

Toss The Feathers (live) - a great finale. Even though the album is just in its middle, "Toss The Feathers" is always a great closing-up of all Corrs' gigs.

Forgiven, Not Forgotten (acoustic) - a gentle and mild performance of this excellent song, accompanied only with guitar, violin and bodhran gives it brand new dimensions...

The Right Time (acoustic) - one more acoustic;-) Who has heard this version, knows that Andrea sings "...but I will succeed!" instead of "...but what can I do to recall"

Rainy Day - a bonus track full of optimism amd summer times. I like it so, maybe because rainy days seem to be very, very romantic for me...

The Right Time (radio edit-dance mix) - a version shorter about 30 second when comparing the original, remixed into a bit techno style... but this is not my cup of tea...

3.0 out of 5 stars For Collectors Only, May 1, 2003

I came across this album on accident about a year ago and quickly paid the ridiculous import price for it. Result: "Corrs Live" is a record for collectors only. If that doesn't apply to you, read no further, but, if you are a collector, continue on down the page.

The first three tracks were recorded at the Langelands Festival in Denmark during the summer of 1996. While they offer a great look at early Corr performances, it also becomes evident how much the band has matured since then. Andrea Corr no longer talks her way through the songs (thank goodness!) and the sound quality has vastly improved. These tracks do have an "undiscovered band" atmosphere to them, but the microphone distortion is annoyingly distracting.

The choice of songs on the album is also questionable. Where 'Runaway' and 'Toss the Feathers' are staples of the Corrs' live performances, the inclusion of 'Secret Life' on this record is somewhat strange.

The remaining four tracks provide an unusual collection of acoustical studio sessions, radio edits, and unreleased songs. The acoustic version of 'Forgiven, Not Forgotten' is decent, but not as perfected as they would have it on the MTV "Unplugged" performance a few years later. 'The Right Time' acoustic version is a glimpse into what the song might have been - fans will notice different lyrics at the end. The radio edit of the song is superb, however, with added dance beats that make it better than the album version of the track. This record's biggest highlight, however, is the unreleased 'Rainy Day'. Full of energy, with tongue-in-cheeck lyrics and goofy violin liks, it's one of the band's best loved B-sides.

While "Corrs Live" is indeed a unique view at what the Corrs used to be, I would wait until you find a copy on sale if you're planning on buying it, which I would only do if you're a collector. Otherwise, stick to the more generally-released stuff.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately Not Enough Content for Your Money, May 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Corrs Live (Audio CD)
The music on this cd is good. "Rainy Day" is a fun musical rarity and the other songs are all very well performed but with only 7 songs on the cd I think it's a complete rip off--the songs are good, but not THAT good. For $$ you'd expect to get at least a full concert of live songs but this feels like an extended cd single. I mean I know imports cost more but this simply doesn't have enough music on it to be considered a full length cd. Furthermore, it's called "The Corrs Live" yet some of the songs aren't even live.

This purely seems like a mercenary venture. Andrea and Caroline Corr were listed as two of the richest women 30 years old and under in Ireland--now I know why. Save your money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Fantastic, May 31, 1999
This review is from: Corrs Live (Audio CD)
The fact that only three of the tracks on this album are live is a slight let down, given the name of the album. However, what is live is fantasic, and there are some excellent acoustic versions on this album. A must buy for a Corrs fan.

Okay, first of all The Corrs are great as a live band and this cd proves that, too. I like the song "Rainy Day", originally a B-side for one of their singles. Then, the remix of "The Right Time" disappointed me a bit...but it's certainly not the worst Corrs remix ever made. The others, the live ones, are good, especially "Secret Life" and the acoustic version of "Forgiven, Not Forgotten". A must-have for Corrs fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!, September 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Corrs Live (Audio CD)
While the title is misleading, i think the cd is fantastic! Only three of the seven songs are live the rest of the album has stuff on it never released(with the exception of the tin-tin remix). Rainy Day is a great song, as is all of the acoustic music. If you're a Corrs fan I think you;ll like it.
