5.0 out of 5 stars Great Power Supply!!, May 25, 2009
This review is from: Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400-Watt CX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 (Personal Computers)
I got this Corsair PSU to replace the 250-watt Bestec one that came in my Compaq Presario SR5707-C. It powers my system (including the GeForce 9600 GSO I added) beautifully, runs cool and quiet, has a power switch, and has long cables and plenty of cable ties (plus a "Powered by Corsair" sticker to put on your computer!). I've had my system running almost nonstop for 2 weeks with this new PSU and I've had no problems.

I highly recommend this PSU. Just be aware that the cables are long, so there'll be some crowding if you put it into a standard sized, pre-built computer along with a big video card.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice 400W PSU, great design, love it... low-budget medium gaming computer, January 24, 2010

This is the Corsair 400W PSU with 3 year warranty (the higher end Corsair PSUs {eg 700W+} come with 5 year warranty, but I think 3 years is pretty good)

Corsair is a good brand which stands behind the stuff they sell. One look at this PSU, you'd admire the engineering behind in (5+ pounds for a 400W which means solid metal/heatsink/case... 120mm fan that cools the PSU... auto-voltage detection which means no need to flip that red switch an the back)

SINGLE 30amp 12V rail means you don't have to balance power over multiple rails... this is really good as you pretty much have to worry about two numbers (400W, 30amp). 80 plus efficiency is always good to save on the electricity bill.

6SATA, 6MOLEX, 2 Floppy, 1 ATX 20+4, 1 4/8pin adapter, 1 PCIe... wish there were 2 PCIe, but this is a 400W PSU, not a 500W.... best price for a low/medium build where you don't need to use SLI/Crossfire... LOOOOONG Sleeved cables, a plus, and they give you zipties for cable management

I haven't tested fully how the PSU runs under load(just ordered the parts for my computer including this PSU, so I will have a chance to test this and edit this review when the parts come in a week, but the paperclip trick {short the green wire with any black wire} turns the PSU on, so it's definitely not DOA... fan's pretty quiet on low but also pumps quite a lot of air out)

My Specs: this PSU, AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE(hopefully unlockable, but definitely can be overclocked from 3.1ghz to 3.5ghz on air), MSI 785G-E65 mATX, 2x2GB DDR3 DIMM, a 1TB hdd that I have sitting around, a cheap Apex mATX case I bought a year ago

plus an (not yet bought, but planning to)ATI 4670 1GB

I was really impressed with the quality that Corsair manufactured this PS. Nice connections and good length. The PS is quite and has been running great.

On a side note at the time I purchased this PS there was a $10 manufacture mail in rebate. I sent the paperwork in and received a rebate check in about 5 weeks.
