Product Description

The Carbide Series 300R keeps your hardware cool with amazing airflow from up to 7 fans (2 included), and has cutting-edge features like USB 3.0 and SSD compatibility. With room for long graphics cards and excellent cable routing

From the Manufacturer

A compact expression of Corsair's gaming philosophy.

Great systems start with a great case, and Carbide Series 300R provides a remarkable number of features in a compact chassis. Easy access, lots of room for expansion, and superior cooling make the 300R a great choice for building powerful PCs that don't take up a lot of room.

Carbide Series 300R Top
The front panel includes two USB 3.0 connectors and audio connectors.

Serious cooling potential.

The 300R is equipped with two fans for intake and exhaust, and the integrated dust filters on the front and bottom intakes are easy removable. There's room for you to install five more fans, including mounting points for two side panel 120mm fans for drawing cool air directly over your GPUs. If you're building a multi-GPU gaming rig, proper graphics ventilation is essential.

Carbide Series 300R Side
High-performance gaming systems need room to work with. The compact 300R delievers the room you need to build your ultimate gaming PC.
It's big where it counts.

Despite its size, the 300R can fit extra-long graphics cards of up to 450mm length, and it has three optical drive bays and four hard drive bays. All the bays all tool-free, and the hard drive bays have integrated support for 2.5" drives, so you won't need to deal with adapters when installing SSDs

Build quality.

Whether you're building multiple systems or just one, and whether you're a professional or if it's your very first build, the 300R has the smart features that matter. Just like the drive bays, the side panels are tool-free, so you'll spend less quality time with your screwdriver.

The black painted interior has a CPU cutout for quick installing or upgrading of CPU heatsinks, and Corsair's innovative cable management system provides a straightforward way to route cables behind the motherboard, not across it where it can interfere with airflow and give your system a cluttered look.

Pros: For this price, it has all the features you possibly could own.
1. 5.25 bays with screwless click-in feature, but could still screw in stuff manually if needed, such as fan controller and hard drive enclosure.
2. Individually removable drive bays that could be taken out from the 3.5" rack to install 3.5" drives (screwlessly) and 2.5" SSDs (with screws) easily.
3. Large cut-out for installing CPU heatsink/cooler.
4. Cable management cutouts.
5. Front USB 3.0 and HD Audio/AC'97 connectors.
6. Can install up to 7 120~140mm case fans, preinstalled with 1 120mm back exhaust and 1 140mm front intake, both 3 pin, with 4 pin compatible connector heads).
7. Re-attachable PCI expansion card back plates.
8. The front air intake zone is preinstalled with thin air filter.

Cons:
1. The manual doesn't provide much info about the case. First time system builder could have troubles figuring things out.
2. Side case fan mounts don't have preinstalled air filter (common to most cases).
3. Fan mounted on the top mounting place closer to the front could interfere with an optical drive mounting on the top 5.25 bay. For my hardware setup, I could only but also luckily install 120mm fan at this place.

Other Thoughts: I've lost interest of having flashy LEDs and flamboyant case designs over the years. This case fits my needs perfectly and exceeds my expectation.

-This case gives you a TON of options. It has great cable routing, many hard drive bays, three optical drive bays, built-in USB 3.0... and all for the low price of 79.95. If you want a case that has everything for a budget-sized build: look no further.

-Fits a hyper 212+ just as it should, has great room for larger discrete cards, has 6 fan-mount points (all of which are both 140mm and 120mm compatible)

-Paired with two Gelid Wing14s in the front, this thing is extremely quiet. (Non-LED)

-Aesthetics: Black interior and rear, for that "watcher on the wall" look. Rubber pads on the bottom to prevent any rattling if you have a particularly violent hard drive. Comes with all the screws you will ever need, plus a few zipties.

-For those looking at the asrock extreme4 z77, this works perfectly. The board is known for having awkward SATA port location, but because the drives are mounted near the bottom it makes it easily accessible. (Also highly recommend the board)

Cons: Power button is very bright. Not noticeable during the day, but at night it could very well wake the dead. Simple fix: disable it in the bios. Haven't had any problems other than that, it comes with everything it says.

Other Thoughts: I also own an Antec 300 (maybe I have a thing for cases with '300' in the name?) and it is nowhere near as good as this one, for just $10 less.

Overall, I'd give this a 6/5 if I could, I was really surprised how well this turned out.

I kept reading and hearing in reviews about how this was a relatively small case. But this is much larger than I was expecting, it is a few inches taller than my old case, which has one more optical drive slot than this. I can't imagine how you would want a larger case unless you were building a server with a big RAID stack inside. This is plenty tall and very deep.

The construction quality of this is very good and adequate for the price. The case design is obviously evolved - Everything is where it ought to be and things click in flush. It's worth every penny you pay for it. But not worth more - The side panels are unbraced sheet metal that could warp or rattle just like any cheap steel case. Definitely not a case for transporting around. If you're going to plant it next to a desk though, this is real nice, and if you desired you could put sticky foam inside the panels to brace and deaden them a bit.

One concern is the grill on the top. It is very large and doesn't have a filter. So you'd need to mount fans to it (easy to do) if you want to keep dust out.

I found this case to be absolutely perfect. The spacing between the 5 inch bays and the 3 inch bays allowed for me to put a liquid cooling system in between them. (With a $5 140 to 120mm fan adapter) I've read reviews that say the front panel is difficult to take off, I had no problems at all. In fact, I'd say it was easy. Excellent minimalist sleek design.

The case looks nice, like any corsair product, but surprisingly did not hold up their usual quality. The side panels and mesh are very thin and flimsy, and the case its self is disturbingly light in weight. However, it isn't the worst case I have seen, but corsair really shouldn't sacrifice so much in quality just to make a budget case.

Tool less hard drive bays are nice. All the 3.5" bays have holes in the pull out trays with 4 crew holes to align and support 2.5" SSD drives.

The dimensions for the case are incorrect. Presently Amazon has then listed as 19.1 x 17.7 x 8.3 inches . Actual dimensions are 18.5"high x 8.3" wide by 19.3" deep. The extra inch in height made a difference in where I could place the computer. Its about 1/4" deeper as well cause they must not count the slight lip handle on the side covers in the measurement. You have to allow about 1 more inch for the cables out the back as well.

Overall the case feels solid. I did have one of the plastic pieces you grip to remove the hard drive trays snap off. I didn't use excessive force, just the required amount to pull out the drive. I have a feeling that this will tend to happen even more as plastic becomes more brittle over time. Only half the break looked fresh, so I get the feeling it already had a hairline crack. It really isn't an issue however as those 'handles' are mainly a convenience feature.

I was able to easily fit a Cooler Master Hyper N520 with about 3/4" room to spare on the left side of the case. I reversed the aire flow direction for the 2 fans on the Cooler Master by taking them off and flipping them before reattaching. Used Artic Silver 5 thermal compound in place of the generic compound that comes with the N520. I only added 1 fan and placed in in the rear top panel as an exhaust fan. My CPU idle temp is from 27-30C.

The one con in my opinion is that the motherboard/MB cut out could be 1/4" further from the right side of the case (as you face the front) I ran all the cabling behind the MB to keep the case looking neat.
