The essential gaming PC case

Carbide Series SPEC-01 is proof that great looks, smart design, and durable construction don’t need to be pricy, and that basic doesn’t need to be boring. You get aggressive styling, a huge side panel window for admiring your components, and an LED-lit front intake fan that draws cool air directly to your graphics cards. Inside, there’s room for up to five fans, and the four combination hard drive / SSD trays make storage installation and upgrades quick and easy. Cable routing cutouts help you reduce clutter, and the built-in dust filters help protect your components. Up front, the USB 3.0 connector gets you up to speed with the latest high-performance storage devices.

Huge side panel window

The aggressive look of the SPEC-01 makes it look great on the outside, but there’s beauty on the inside of a well-built system, too. The large side panel window lets you show it off.

LED front intake fan, with room for more

The 120mm front intake fan is bathed in soft LED lighting, and it’s oriented to draw cool air directly across your graphics cards. And if you want even more ventilation, you can add a second 120mm fan or even dual 140mm fans.

Flexible cooling potential

Like all Corsair cases, the SPEC-01 is designed for cooling, so you’re covered if you’re overclocking, running multiple GPUs, or if you just want more airflow. There are mounting points for up to five fans, including dual front 140mm or 120mm fans, dual 120mm fans on top, and a rear 120mm fan.

Multiple drive bays

You might not build a system with four hard drives or SSDs, but with SPEC-01, you can if you want. In addition to the two standard 5.25” optical drive bays, there are four built-in 3.5” / 2.5” combo drive bays for mechanical hard drives or solid-state drives.

Easy system builds, maintenance and upgrades

Builds should be easy, no matter what your budget. 3.5” drive installation is tool-free, and you get cable routing holes for neater-looking builds and better airflow. And, there’s a CPU cutout to allow for cooling upgrades without removing the motherboard. The front intake fan filters help keep dust out of the interior, and the front panel has a USB 3.0 port for fast performance from USB flash drives and portable hard drives.

  • Large side panel window
  • Cable routing and CPU cooler backplate motherboard cutouts
  • Seven PCIe slots with room for long graphics cards up to 420mm long

I think a product can only be rated against its description and not other products of the like. That being said this case does exactly what it was meant for and for $50 you just can't beat it. The only thing I would say is its a little tight for cable management. You can see they thought of this and that's why they popped the side panel out a bit, but it's still a little tight. Anyway it's evident they thought of everything, they just took the less expensive rout and that's fine since the goal was to make an awesome functional case that is extremely affordable. You're not getting this case for luxury, you're getting it for affordable functionality and a couple bonuses that you may not have expected.

Came well shipped, double boxed. Great case for the money. 240mm rad fits on top on the inside but if you have ram with heat sink you can't mount fans below rad...I mounted them on the outside.

I freaking love this case. It is very cool looking and the fan on the front has a red LED! This case is also great because it has lots of room to work in, everything fits nice and cable management is great. But, it only has one fan so I recommend buying a second one to mount on the back

I'm very happy with this case, especially since I got it for >$30 via Amazon warehouse (the packaging was dented on the outside but the case was in perfect condition).

Two things to note: there is no rear exhaust fan included, so either purchase one separately or use the included front 120mm fan as the rear exhaust fan. And secondly, if you're using an ATX motherboard, the 4 pin cpu cable is going to be annoying to pass through the top hole and get it to not be in the way of the motherboard when screwing it in. Other than that, I'm quite happy with this case. The side window is tinted and its overall decently quiet.

Looks ok, but this case has glaring issues that left me wondering how is this case wearing a name brand badge.

This is my first Corsair case, and likely my last.

The good:
No sharp edges, decent airflow with cable management. Room for 2 front panel 120 mm fans.
plenty of space for my 270x. Front panel control buttons have a nice feel with decent response.

The bad:

The first major con is the metal is THIN, and surprisingly thin for a name brand case. Seriously feels as thin non branded knock offs. I would say the sheet metal used is 30 gauge or less in thickness. This is clearly apparent when examining the Power Supply retention tabs

A Jaw Dropping Flaw is the Front panel dust filter is GLUED into place, it is not removable all all. The filter material is just nylon screen, (that was cut sloppy on this case, the screen is not even squared to the cutout vent it was cut for, it was glued at a slight diagonal leaving a gap of unfiltered space.) This is unacceptable.

And on to interior build space.
Looking at the Photos, it appears to have enough room for large CPU coolers from the bumped out side panels, but it really doesn't.
The side panels bump out is deceiving in the photos; the windowed panel only protrudes from the case about ¼ of an inch. More than Half of the windowed bump out is used to secure the brittle plastic window. You're left with less than ⅛ of an inch tolerance for larger coolers.
I have a Cooler Master V8 that is actually hitting the side panel, and had to struggle a little to get the window panel on.. I may have to get out my dremel and grind down the top edge of the plastic window, as I fear it may actually be adding to the stress on the motherboard.

I wanna start by saying this case is currently being used for my first gaming build.

its a great case with plenty of space to work in, i enjoy the look of the case, the lighting effects is real nice. its not heavy at all so moving it around its easy, i enjoy the fact that the power supply sits in the bottom instead of the top so it add weight in the back.I am using a 650w power source and fit like a charm

cons
some of the things i don't like are the front light for the rest button doesn't seem light up i checked and double checked the connections to the motherboard and i have them right because the button does reset the pc and the power button lights up and works.

next the case comes with 1 fan, i know its on the specs of the case but i feel for the price an extra normal fan would of been nice,

next there are some clips on the top that are pressure held they hold the CD drive if you have one, but mine only came with 2 and one of them doesn't work on the picture shows 3.

next one of the stands in the bottom fell off within 3 days. i lifted my pc and moved it around a few times to find the right spot for it and while moving it the stand fell, i examined it i noticed its pressure placed into the case and that one was mushed in so it came off. the plastic pins inside of it bend so it didn't hold.

Also the motherboard pins are real hard to unscrew by hand. you gotta get a tool to take em off and move them where you need them.
