This memory is great for my new MBP 2011, i5 13", also when Mac OS detects 8 Gb of memory, the graphic memory increases up to 512 Mb (from the original 384 Mb w/ the integrated intel hd3000 chip)

Plugged it in, put the back cover back on, fired it up holding down the D key to run the memory test. Memory test ran OK. Restarted.
"About This Mac" shows "Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3." Note: After removing 10 screws, the back cover remains retained by two plastic clips near the center. Pry it up gently and it pops off.

Just replaced my 2 month old 15" macbook pro with the newest i7 model they released a few days ago. So my old 8GB wasn't compatible anymore. Only about 5 months ago that older style memory cost me not quite three times what this newer RAM cost.
Got it installed without any issues in the laptop, booted up fine, works fine. Best price I found, can't believe how cheaply I got this new laptop up to 8GB. Edit - worked great on my new 2011 Mac Mini as well, now has 8GB.

I just purchased a new 2011 base model Mac Mini with 2GB of memory. Instead of paying Apple the $300 they want to upgrade the memory to 8GB I searched Amazon and found this option for one fifth the price. I'm not a "tech guy" but removing the two 1GB cards that came installed in the Mac and replacing them with these two 4GB was easily completed in less than five minutes. Everything is running smoothly with no problems to date.

Let's start by saying for the 27"Imac with the I7 processor this memory works great. Was a PC guy for years (25 plus) NEVER has the installation of memory been easier. What a value, IApple wants to charge their ridiculous prices for their memory well stick it to them and order this instead. Running with 12gig of ram has never been easier (4 came with the imac plus this 8).

Bought this RAM for my new mac mini. Upgrade took less than 5 minutes and the Mini automatically recognized the total 8GB and the correct speed. Definetly recommend this to a Mini. Upgrading from the 2GB stock to 8GB you definetly see the difference and the shared video memory boost up to 512mb with the 8GB.

So far, no issues in my 2011 Thunderbolt MacBook Pro. I'll update this review if I run into any trouble.

I had no issues at all using it with my new iMac 27" (mid 2011). I have a lot of graphic programs open and it runs very smooth. I use photoshop CS5, flash CS5 and aperture mostly. Installation took less that 5 minutes.

I was slightly worried that it wasn't going to work since the current memory in this computer was 1066MHz but i tried it anyway since the packaging was easy to open. Well guess what it worked and works great! It shows 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 in the About this Mac section. I mainly got this memory so I could run more virtual machines simultaneously and it does its job. Thank You corsair for making such a great product!!!

I have a Gateway 7811FX Notebook, Gateway FX series of notebooks were a pretty big deal when they came out as they were the first budget gaming notebooks that had a 1080 display. Anyway I bought this because while the 4GB stock RAM that I had was sufficient I needed more RAM because I got to online university, and I have to have a ton of things opened at once (Word, Acrobat, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.) So obviously while I browse the net and have all these programs open it was using about 3.5GB of Ram and I started noticing after some time that once I passed about 3GB of RAM some mega slow down started happening on my PC so I knew it was time for an upgrade. The first Idea I had was to get only 6GB of Ram, I was going to buy a 4GB stick of Crucial RAM and another single 2GB stick of Crucial RAM however combined that amount would be only $10 less then this 8GB of RAM set and at that point it made no sense I might as well have bought the Corsair RAM, so I did.
After I installed it, which only took about 15 minutes to unscrew everything drop the RAM in and then reassemble I booted it up for the first time. It started up like normal with some freezing at the beginning, however apparently Windows 7 detected that there was new hardware, so there was a little delay at that first startup. I went checked the properties made sure the RAM was being detected everything checked out well. So then I proceeded to open programs, and wow! What a difference, I noticed huge differences in program start up times, especially with Adobe Acrobat Reader which used to take a while to open up files (I open multiple files at once). Selected about 5 documents hit open and it took less the 5 seconds for all of them to come up, which was more then double the speed of the stock RAM. Everything was opening at the snap of a finger, including all of the Microsoft Office applications. As I am writing this review I am using 4.1GB in task manger and everything is still snappy I can open 5 folders at once and it is still lightning quick. Overall great RAM for the money and an amazing product from Corsair, don't hesitate! One last thing that I should mention my computer stock uses 204 Pin DDR3 1066 RAM, this RAM is 1333 and yes it works perfectly fine, some people seem to think that these 1333 RAM speeds will not work with these older DDR3 1066 slots, that is false because the RAM actually clocks down to the system, still snappy and better then stock! |
