The PCs running Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 have USB 3.0 ports, and the data transfer speed between this drive and the PCs was lightning fast.

One failed after being used less than a dozen times, within 8 months of purchase.

Fast reliable drive, nice slider mechanism, although a little large.

The older CMFSL3-64GB is faster than the newer "B" version of the drive.

Corsair CMFSL3B-64GB CrystalDiskMark Benchmarks:

USB 3.0--READ 121.7MB/s---WRITE 22.73MB/s
USB 2.0--READ 33.3MB/s---WRITE 13.4MB/s

The good:
Build quality, slider style, reputable manufacturer, better USB port compatibility than Silicon Power 64GB Blaze USB 3.0 Flash Drive (The silicon power wouldn't work in the top USB 2.0 ports on my desktop PC, just the back ports directly on motherboard and USB 3.0 ports - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H7PBWNU )

The bad:
Slow write speeds - around 17-18 MB/s sustained. This is a real world test writing hundreds of JPEG photos about 2-3MB per file from a fast Corsair (heh) Neutron SSD drive ( http://www.amazon.com/product/dp/B00AW3O4WU ). Can't blame it on my hardware setup because the Patriot Supersonic 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive ( http://www.amazon.com/product/dp/B004ZNA3UA ) sustained ~48 MB/s for the same exact transfer, but it does cost 2x as much.

Reading speeds are quite good though. About 110-120 MB/s for copying those same files. The Patriot was about the same.

CrystalDiskMark showed the following (all in MB/s):

Seq Read: 154.0
Seq Write: 20.42

512k Read: 131.1
512k Write: 0.550

4k Read: 10.07
4k Write: 0.022

4k QD32 Read: 10.13
4k QD32 Write: 0.025

Pretty much all USB flash drives are terrible in anything other than sequential. But sequential is usually pretty close to real world results. The other tests 512k, 4k, etc. are more for actual hard drives on a SATA connection, but I posted the info here anyway.

If you're curious what the Patriot Supersonic did, as a comparison:

Seq Read: 295.2
Seq Write: 150.5

512k Read: 215.6
512k Write: 1.163

4k Read: 10.96
4k Write: 0.688

4k QD32 Read: 7.776
4k QD32 Write: 1.331

Corsair CMFSL3B-128GB CrystalDiskMark Benchmarks:

The Corsair Voyager Slider 16GB was delivered December 18, 2013. I don't use flash drives much but thought it would be handy to have one with that much space and with USB 3.0 speeds. It iced pretty hard around here a couple days ago (january 28, 2014) and I worked from home. I moved my files to the drive (maybe 400 MB worth of excel and word docs) and worked from there. Tuesday night, it stopped working for a moment, but i was able to get it reworking. I backed up the files I'd worked on Tuesday to my desktop. Wednesday I worked from home again, but when I went to check the files Wednesday night, my computer would not read the drive. It knew that it was in the USB port, but it wanted me to "insert media". I worked at it for an hour or so and tried to find some recovery programs. None of them worked and I lost about 8 hours worth of work. So I'm disappointed in this purchase.

First i'm going to say that though I didn't buy this drive on Amazon, I did buy it from Newegg so I do own it and can comment on this drive.

As the title says, stay away from any Corsair Voyager Sliders with the model number "CMFSL3B". The B revision is horrible. Write speeds tend top out at 16MB/s (and slower). Corsair obviously isn't going to advertise this poor write speed or customers simply wouldn't buy it.

IMHO 16MB/s is simply unacceptable write speeds for a USB 3 device.

If you can find a slightly older CMFSL3 (No B), first gen then go for it. I have a 16GB one that has better write speeds of 22MB/s.

Corsair is aware of the poor performance but they have done nothing to correct it.

Failed after three days. When plugged in, it will display as a disk with contents but within 5 to 10 seconds, a message states that the disk has been ejected. Further attempts to remount fail. It appears to overheat and this is what causes the problem. It happens in my Mac and PC exactly the same way. I want to return it, but my information (about 30 GB worth) is still on there an is the property of my employer. So I am stuck with a product that does not work but I cannot return for fear it may be resold and someone would be able to retrieve the contents of the drive.

Review for: Corsair Flash Voyager Slider

Keychain holder cheaply made and the hole too small for many keychains to turn in without breaking it.

Not thin enough to fit between two other tightly packed USB ports as one often finds on computers, however this is common among many of the tougher USB keys, so just FYI in case this is important to you for your needs.

I like Corsair as a company, however I can't recommend this particular USB flash drive of theirs. For most users needs this is mostly a commodity market at this point for USB flash drives, it is silly for a USB flash drive not to be able to be held on a keychain without breaking.
