Why Upgrade to a Solid State Disk Drive?

More Performance
Your System Runs Faster

With an SSD, your system will start up and shut down quicker, applications will load faster and feel more responsive, and even games will perform better as levels load more quickly. With virtually instant data access times, SSDs also outperform traditional hard drives in data lookup, file transfers, and other disk-intensive work.

Better battery life
Longer Battery Life

Using an SSD with your notebook or netbook means you'll enjoy longer battery life. Traditional mechanical hard drives consume large amounts of power to start up and seek data. With no moving parts, SSDs use less of your precious battery power, resulting in longer running times.

Durability
Tougher and More Durable

Because an SSD uses all solid-state electronics with no moving parts, it can handle shock and vibration far in excess of traditional hard drives and will survive wider temperature swings. For durability and toughness on the road, nothing outperforms an SSD.

Product Description

Based on the latest SandForce controller, the Corsair Force Series Solid-State Drive offers stutter-free response, fast performance, cooler and quieter operations for your notebook, netbook, and desktop PC. If speed is what you are looking for and what you expect from your performance or gaming system the Corsair Force Series SSD’s are the perfect choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent boot drive, August 27, 2010
This review is from: Corsair Force Series 40 GB SATA II 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive CSSD-F40GB2 (Personal Computers)
Super fast SSD. Use this drive as a boot drive and store your files/data on a traditional hard drive.

I wanted to have a speed boost for my system, but didn't want to spend $300-$700 for an SSD to replace my hard drive. Using this as my boot drive and store my files on a 1TB hard drive which gives me 90% of the performance gains of a full SSD setup. Fast booting, application loads, and swap space. Overall a much snappier system. Since I store all my files on a traditional hard drive I still have tons of space for music, videos, etc. (Hint: You can remap your default My Documents to be on the hard drive rather than the SSD)

Works great for Windows 7 which supports TRIM.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does work with Windows Web Server 2008 R2, June 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Corsair Force Series 40 GB SATA II 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive CSSD-F40GB2 (Personal Computers)
I bought a bunch of these drives to test with a couple of Supermicro server motherboards. I configured 4 drives in a RAID 10 array using the Intel Storage Matrix driver. Works flawlessly with Windows 7, but crashes within 24 hours with Windows Web Server 2008 R2.

Supermicro SuperServer 6026TT-TF 2U Twin2
Intel L5640 Processors
6x Kingston 2Gb RAM
4x Corsair F50

I called Supermicro and I was told to stick to their approved list of hard disks, notable the Intel X25-E. I tried the newer Intel 320 with Windows Web Server 2008 R2 and it has so far been running continuously for 10 days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast! Trouble with RAID 0., December 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Corsair Force Series 40 GB SATA II 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive CSSD-F40GB2 (Personal Computers)
This drive is fast and receives a WEI score of 7.5 out of the box. I tried to run two of these in RAID 0 and it worked but I ran into some stability issues. The WEI score of two of these babies in RAID 0 was obviously 7.9 but I could barely tell the difference between RAID 0 and just a single drive. Windows loads in 10-15 seconds and game load times are blazing fast. I am currently running my Windows 7 on one 40Gb drive and my Steam folder on the other 40Gb drive.

Unless you are just going to use it for a boot drive, go with a larger capacity. I didn't think it would fill up so fast but just Windows 7 and drivers puts me at nearly 23Gb of data.
