Product Description

Build a Mini ITX system without sacrificing expansion, flexibility, or performance.
Mini ITX without Compromise

If you want to build a Mini ITX system without sacrificing expansion, flexibility, or performance, the Obsidian Series 250D is your answer. Though it’s small on the outside, the 250D has room for standard components like a full-size 5.25” optical drive, a full-length GPU, a 240mm radiator, and even a full-size ATX power supply.

The sleek aluminum front fascia provides the striking yet subtle design that Obsidian Series cases are known for, and a top window gives you a close-up view of your high-performance components. The 250D is a great choice if you want full size performance in a small space.

For high performance in a small size

The small size of the 250D makes it great for dorm rooms, desktops, bookcases, or anywhere else space is an issue.

Black anodized brushed aluminum fascia

The front panel has an elegant look that befits the high-performance system you want to build. It’s durable and resistant to scratches and fingerprints.

Fits full-size components

Many Mini ITX PC cases impose strict limitations that can make it difficult to build a well-cooled, high performance PC. The 250D has a highly efficient interior design that allows for a 5.25” optical drive, a full-length graphics card, and a full-size ATX power supply. There’s even mounting points for a 240mm radiator for advanced CPU cooling.

The included 140mm front intake fan draws cool air directly over your GPU

Keeps your GPU cool

The interior is arranged so that the included 140mm front intake fan draws cool air directly over your GPU. This can help with reliability and give you extra GPU overclocking headroom.

Front panel USB 3.0 and audio I/O

You want to build a system that’s not only fast, but easy to work with. Up-front USB 3.0 and audio connectors let you quickly attach high-speed storage devices and headsets.

Windowed top panel

The joy of building your own system isn’t just about utility. The clear acrylic window lets you show off your work.

This case, being a Mini-ITX, is extremely spacious and well designed. I've been able to fit my full-size ATX psu, GTX 770 GPU, H100i cooler, Samsung EVO 500GB ssd and 8GB RAM inside, no issues with being cramped or over-heating. I do, though, recommend getting a 200mm fan (recommend Corsair) to replace the 140mm front fan it comes with. It works, absolutely, but a little extra intake for $20~ is money well-spent.

Bravo, Corsair.

Build: Corsair Obsidian 250D, Corsair RM750 PSU, ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe LGA 1155 mobo, Intel I5 3750K 3.4 GHz stock, Samsung EVO 500GB, Corsair H100i liquid cooling unit, Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3 1866, EVGA GeForce 770 CLASSIFIED GPU

CORSAIR 250D = ONE OF THE BEST ITX CASES.

I sold my Bitfenix Prodigy and per-ordered this case. I waited a month for it but I must say this case was well worth the wait. The case is QUALITY, beautiful and spacious. The neutral white case LEDS goes nicely with pretty much anything. My Bitfenix Recon fan controller looks awesome with it. This case is so nice I bought a second one for my other gaming rig.

I figured out a way to add a NZXT HUE RGB Color Changing LED Controller and keep my Recon Fan controller. I removed the HUE RGB changer from the 5.25 inch tray that it came with and mounted the controller itself using zip ties and hot glue. Fits flush. Now when I want to change the color all I have to do is open the front door on the case and change the color. The front fan still works well and the grill still fits if you want to insert it back in. I uploaded pictures to Amazon showing this. Click on my Amazon name to see the pictures.

Cons:
1. I had an issue installing a 2.5 ssd. The hdd area is such a tight space to work in if you have big hands. The 2.5 inch hdd's sit further back into the case and attaching a Sata data and power cable is a nightmare. 3.5 inch hdd's are fine.

2. I had learning experience installing a blue ray drive and my Recon fan controller. This happened on both of my 250D cases. The drive would not slide all the way into the case. When you remove the case faceplate you will notice a thin rectangular plastic piece at the top of the 5.25 inch bay. You must carefully lift up on the rectangular flap while sliding the ODD into the case. Then you can insert the screws in the ODD/case.

A side note for GIGABYTE motherboard buyers.
This case looks good with my Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI and GA-H77N-WIFI .

As with most cases, this looks better when you lay eyes on it. Pictures don't do it justice. I have to commend Corsair and Amazon for the packaging because not only was it well packed from Corsair, Amazon put their box within a box, which was the first time I've seen this done. This is one of the reasons I'm starting to buy from Amazon exclusively and refraining from the egg. The hard drive shipping methods there for example explains why so many people get DOA drives, but that's another story.

On to the Obsidian 250D. You can tell from working with this case that a lot of though was put into it. The sides and the top slide on and lock in place gracefully, no pushing and wiggling required, everything lines up nicely. The front panel is hinged at the bottom, so it falls forward slowly, exposing the removable fan filter. Corsair also includes a 120mm fan on the side opposite of the video card. I chose to move that fan up one position closest to the front of the case so I could mount my Antec Kuhler H20 620 right beside the motherboard. Once I connected the main power connector to the motherboard, it just barely fit with no room to spare beside the locking clip, but it does fit. One other thing of note is that both side panels have magnetic screens on them, so cleaning dust out will be a snap. There is also one slide out fan screen on the power supply intake.

I had a spare Corsair 600 watt power supply and I was a little cautious about using it and it not being modular, but there is plenty of space in front of the power supply cage to coil the extra cabling. I also bought a Silverstone Tek 5.25-Inch Aluminum Cover Bay Converter for Slot-Load Slim Optical Disk Drive and 4X 2.5-Inch HDD/SSD Drives FP58B Black (actual Amazon listing) and used a sony slot loading dvd burner.
