Product Description

Product Description

The Obsidian Series 900D Super Tower PC case is the platform of choice for your next ultimate dream PC. Whether you’re integrating state-of-the-art liquid or air cooling, building a quad-GPU, dual-CPU graphics powerhouse, creating a monster file server, or even all of the above in one incredible system, 900D makes it happen. It’s not just big - Obsidian Series 900D has been carefully engineered for fast builds, easy upgrades and flexible expansion. The aluminum frame and solid steel panels give 900D the rigidity and strength you need for multiple teardowns and rebuilds, and the brushed aluminum fascia completes the look of understated overkill.

From the Manufacturer

Obsidian Series 900D Super Tower Case provides serious expansion capability, incredible cooling performance, and smart ergonomics for fast and neat builds and upgrades.

Overview

What Will You Do With All This Room?

Obsidian Series 900D is for serious builders with big projects.

Do you want to design your ultimate dream PC? Add state-of-the-art liquid cooling or air cooling? Build a quadruple GPU, dual CPU graphics powerhouse? Or, just create a monster file server?

If these are the questions you're asking yourself, you need a 900D.

Serious Expansion Flexibility for Serious Builders

We don't need to tell you that there's no such thing as too much room. We'll just let the numbers speak for themselves:

  • Ten expansion slots
  • Fits up to nine hard drives or SSDs, with three hot-swap mounts
  • Four 5.25” optical drive bays
  • Room for dual power supplies

And if nine hard drives or SSDs aren't enough, you can expand to 15 drives by adding additional drive cages, available separately.

Incredible Cooling Performance and Potential

A cooling-optimized case design requires three things: good passive ventilation, flexible fan mounting options for good airflow, and the room to add sophisticated active cooling systems.

Obsidian Series 900D starts with a clear airflow path from the intake fans to the case interior, with no drives in the way. But that's just the beginning:

  • Includes three 120mm front intake fans and one 140mm rear exhaust fan
  • 15 total fan mount locations
  • Five radiator mounting points
  • Clear airflow path from the intake fans to the case interior, with no drives in the way
  • Four removable dust filters
Easy to Build With — Easy to Live With

System builds should be straightforward and easy, without your PC case getting in the way. And, reconfigurations and upgrades should be just as simple. An enjoyable build process with great-looking results is a huge part of the pride of ownership that comes with building high-performance PCs.

The 900D can help make it all happen with tool-free side-panel access, hard drive installation, and optical drive installation. Inside, you'll find a CPU backplate cutout and rubber grommets on the cable routing holes. There's generous cable routing space behind the motherboard tray, and snap-down cable latches help you create clean, easy-to-modify cabling that doesn't rely on dozens of zip ties.

You also get modular hard drive cages, and the dust filters and fan covers are easily removable for cleaning and maintenance.

Understated Overkill

Let the beginners use cases that look like they're going to turn into a giant robot. Obsidian Series 900D is built on a steel and cast aluminum frame, with solid steel panels and a fully painted interior. The brushed aluminum fascia resists scratches and fingerprints, and it's just plain fun to put your hands on it.

Overall it is a very good case and has PLENTY OF ROOM to suit any needs.

Unfortunately the doors come out of alignment very easily (the hinge may warp when opened), making the magnetic clasp completely ineffective.

The Corsair 900D has finally arrived in my house and I'm blown away by this fantastic case. I can safely say it's the best full tower case in the market and there's no other case that looks this sexy. The 900D is enormous; you can fit a ton of radiators and still have room for more. The amount of options for cable management is mind blowing.

This case has everything an enthusiast wants in a gaming case. You will find that a lot of thought was put into engineering the Corsair 900D and it really shows when looking at the case. Carrying this case when it's fully loaded is almost impossible because it gets so heavy with all the components inside. Cable management is very good with this case and Corsair has done a fantastic job at providing us with so many options for cable management.

I'm upgrading from a Corsair 650D which was an amazing case but I moved it into my second rig. The fans that come with the case are sexy and quiet. You can hardly hear them when they are spinning under full load. With the Corsair 900D being so huge, it's easy to create a clean build with a lot of fans, custom cooling, etc because of the space and cable management options. The side window panel is great because you can view all of your components from outside.

The tool-less design, cable management and the magnetic side panel dust filter make this the best case for enthusiasts. There's just so many features that this case has over other cases in the market. Airflow in the case seems to be pretty good and I know this case was mostly designed for water cooling but it does a great job at air cooling as well. I'm currently using a 4770K at 4.6Ghz which generates a lot of heat and this case seems to be doing a good job at moving the air out of the case.

I was waiting for the 750D to come out, but I wanted a case that would last a long time with room for expansion, and I didn't really care for the thumb screws on the 750D doors. So I pulled the trigger for this big boy. WOW. It is huge! Which is OK with me. Room to put the case is not an issue. Room inside of it ,will never be an issue either.
One of my concerns was that this case is touted as a water-cooling case. Not much mention of Air Cooling. But I figured 3-120's in the front , 1-140mm in the back and up to 4-120's on top, I could create enough air flow.
I mounted a Phanteks PH14 on my FX-8350 with room to spare. I am comparing the Air cooling to a Corsair 600T with cut-out grills (front-top and back) a Bitfenix 200 pro in front- Bitfenix Pro 230mm on the side and 3- corsair 120AF's on top, one in the back. (Very good airflow)... To the 900D with an additional 2-120 AF's added to the top in exhaust mode. Just to see if air cooling was as good as the 600T. Verdict: Almost exactly the same., within a degree or two on all components. My XFX-7950 DD benchmarks on Unigine Valley at 68 to 69C, My FX-8350 running AMD OD stress test at 50C (4.0ghz bouncing to 4.2 turbo..I had running apps at the same time) Northbridge 47C. SO...Air flow is as good as a modded 600T.
The 900D is pretty basic for equipment, but giving you the option of almost anything. It has room for 15 fans. But, no controller. It would have added too much to the price I am sure. So I added a Lamptron FC2. 2 DVD Multi drives (Yes..I have DVD drives!)and an NZXT Card reader. I removed the top HDD cage and used the lower one. It is "Hot Swappable" for 3 drives. So from the window, no drives are visible.
The quality of the 900D is unmatched. Solid. Very typical of all Corsair Cases.

I just received it and this thing is a beast! I could not believe the size of the package the UPS guy dropped in front of my door. I haven't build my rig yet but after a thorough visual inspection, I was very pleased with the built-in quality. As an Aerospace Engineer, I care a great deal about paying attention to details and not cutting corners. This case exceeds my requirements. I think I won't be needing another case for a very very long time!!

The case is great becuse it's simple. It a huge metal box with plenty of space that's all easy to acsess. However I was sad to see that the actual build quality was not very strong at all.... The outside of the case is decent, but the interior is made from very flimsy metal. Also the door with the window is the weakest spot in the case becuse the acrylic is way to thin. It comes with plenty of hard drive cages which first seems great, however their made so poorly that I wouldn't want to use any of them. (One that was shipped was actually already broken)

Overall I would say the case dose function. However I would not recommend purchasing it. It's simply not made well... :/

First off let me start off by emphasizing just how big this case is: it is HUGE. I knew it was big before I bought it, but I didn't realize that it is half as tall as I am (6 ft.) and extremely long. It definitely won't be fitting under any desks.

That said, the case definitely isn't lacking for anything. It has all of the space and mounts that you could possibly want, as well as some very clever ergonomic solutions. For instance, the expansion slots in the back cleverly use thumb screws, making them tool-less.

The case is made of brushed aluminum and is of the highest quality (with the exception of the cheap plastic HDD bays).

That said there is one major design flaw that I cannot overlook (the reason I removed a star). The lower hinged panels magnetically close. Unfortunately the doors come out of alignment very easily (the hinge may warp when opened), making the magnetic clasp completely ineffective. There is no other physical latch, meaning that once they are incorrectly aligned the doors will not close.

I can only assume that this problem is atypical. Unfortunately I already had my rig built by the time that this became a problem and it would be a colossal pain to disassemble everything, repack the case and send it into Corsair for a replacement.
