5.0 out of 5 stars excellent quality
This PSU replaced an OCZ stealthXstream psu and by every regard it's of much, much higher quality. The PSU is very large so if you're not bottom mounting it be absolutely sure your case can tolerate a 10 pound brick at the top. The 24-pin connector cord is extremely long, giving people like me the ability to run it behind the motherboard (cord management) without the need...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great PSU for 2 weeks
Nicely packaged and quiet. But after two weeks it just died. It failed Corsair's PSU 'paper clip test.' No luck with a timely response from Corsair, so I filled out the Amazon.com return/replacement screens, and voila, a replacement is on the way. Hopefully it will last a bit longer.

This review is from: Corsair HX Professional Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 - CMPSU-750HX (Personal Computers)
This PSU replaced an OCZ stealthXstream psu and by every regard it's of much, much higher quality. The PSU is very large so if you're not bottom mounting it be absolutely sure your case can tolerate a 10 pound brick at the top. The 24-pin connector cord is extremely long, giving people like me the ability to run it behind the motherboard (cord management) without the need of buying a 24-pin extension. It's modular so you only need to plug in the cords you need. And best of all, it's ultra quiet. I have six 120mm intake fans (3 intake, 1 cpu, 1 gpu, 1 exhaust) and one 200mm exhaust. My computer sounds like a floor vent when the AC is blowing; just a quiet hum of air moving. No whisp, no whine. Right away it was noticeably quieter than the OCZ psu this replaced.

The modular cables are stored in a velcro bag (two standard molex power cables, two sata power cables, and four 4-pin PCI-E adapters!!), the PSU comes wrapped in a velvet satchel, the packaging is over sized, and it's all heavily padded. In the end, Corsair did not cut any corners whatsoever in making this PSU. What you pay a little extra for in price is obvious when looking at and using this item. I highly, highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Corsair HX750W PSU, December 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Corsair HX Professional Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 - CMPSU-750HX (Personal Computers)
Pros: 750+ Watts of power on a single 60 Amp rail. I say 750+ because multiple reviews by reputable PC forums have shown the HX750W to be almost virtually identical to its HX850W sibling. I've seen reports of HX750Ws putting out 900+ volts with outstanding noise and ripple values on the line. My system draws perhaps 200 Watts at any given time, give or take, but just knowing that I have the headroom (as well as the efficiency even at a mere 20% load on the PSU, as demonstrated by the 80 Plus Silver certification) is nice. The 7 year warranty and 100,000 hour MTBF mean that this PSU has the potential to(and should, according to the MTBF) run for a solid 11 years. Outstanding!

Cons: Um... help me out here. A PSU from a proven manufacturer with one of the best warranties in the industry and outstanding performance... can't say I see too many cons, at least so far.

Other Thoughts: These newer Corsair HX series PSUs are manufactured by CWT and rebadged by Corsair. That being said, CWT has done an outstanding job with this PSU as far as design and parts are concerned, from what I have researched. Its been reported that just about everything in the HX series' design is more than solidly engineered and constructed. I've owned this PSU for a week now and it's been running almost non-stop and I have no reason to believe it will do otherwise. However, should the unit suffer any failures, minor or catastrophic, this review will be promptly updated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Product, but Amazon shipped this poorly., August 10, 2010

The HX850 is an outstanding product, works perfect with 0 issues. More than ample power for complete quad-SLI/XFire. The cable management is fantastic, and the packaging of the product from Corsair was outstanding. I gave this item 5 stars for the product, but not for the shipping..

Be aware of Amazon's shipping for this item, I received this product in a box 3x the size of the package, with nothing stopping the package from moving N/S/E/W, the only thing in the box was loose(yes loose) air bagging on top of it. 1 Star for Amazon's shipping.

I pay for Amazon Prime and I have never seen such poor shipping, of all the times though, it is on one of the most expensive items I have purchased here, very unsatisfied.

The ONLY reason the product was not damaged was because of Corsair's fantastic packing job. The PSU is inside a plastic bag, followed by a cloth tie up bag, in cased in 2 very sturdy sheets of foam. The other end of the box is stuffed(nothing moves in this package) with a re-usable and very handy bag for your cables. All in all Corsair did a magnificent job on the product, and the packaging of it. Amazon, however, failed to ship this properly, but thankfully Corsair did their part to secure it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb - in every way, October 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Corsair HX Professional Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 - CMPSU-750HX (Personal Computers)
This is one of the best peripherals/upgrades I have ever purchased. I pulled out a perfectly fine Dell OEM Power Supply Unit (except for the fact that it was loud and couldn't handle "Step Approximated Sine Wave" battery power coming from any number of Uninteruptable Power Supplies) and installed this in its place...

Some products claim to be professional grade and usually disappoint - this one certainly is pro-grade - just look at the ambient temperature test specs. They are tested at full load at 50C/122F ambient! The unit comes with a 7 year warranty and is spec'd at 100,000 hours Mean Time Between Failure. I love its modular cable design (only uses what you need), its efficiency and performance. This PSU solved the problem with common UPS's not working with my Dell XPS Studio 435T/9000 and I was amazed to see that steady state power consumption went down some 35% compared to the old PSU - due, no doubt, to its nearly 90% efficiency. It's dead quiet because the fan only comes on when it needs to (I'm running at about 40% of total load, so it only seems to come on about 5% of the time, if that). This is a super nice feature when you're in a quiet office environment. I think my monitor makes more noise than this thing! :-) Bottom line - these new power supplies only consume what they need to, so don't worry about an energy pig just because it's rated at 850W. Only advice I'd give there is these operate at maximum efficiency when they are running at about a 50% load, according to Corsair's efficiency curves.

Packaging (product and shipping) was perfect. The modular cable system means that you'll be getting a total of 34 cable/connector assemblies (SATA, IDE, PCI-e, ATX/Motherboard data and power, and floppy/Molex). These come in a nice cloth (velvet-like) bag for storage of the extras. Why so many cables? Power and data for multiple GPUs, 12 SATA cables for extra storage, etc. Also, the manual was well written in plain English with logical instructions and detail.

I did a ton of research on PSUs and talked to Corsair pre-sales tech support before buying this - they were great (although I had to leave a message to have someone return my call). The tech was super knowledgable and very helpful. Not the cheapest around, but after 4 months of daily use, I'm convinced of its value.

Bottom Line:
I am simply thrilled with my purchase, would recommend it to my best friend and WILL buy Corsair again.

This power supply rocks. For starters, it looks great. The modular cables are great. The cables that all machines need (e.g motherboard power, power for first PCIe video card) are permanent and nicely sleeved in mesh cable wrap. All others are plugged in as needed. Very nice selection--enough for two more video cards, more SATA power and data, etc. I am indeed very satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Power Supply, October 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's silly to be excited about a power supply but this is just a great all around unit that is built to last. Stable, quiet, well-made - it's hard to ask for more. I do like the modular aspect with all of the solid black plugs. More connectors were included than I will ever need. 650W is a lot of power and should be more than enough for most builds.

It is a power suppy. It works well. It is quiet.

Has a great warranty when compared to other manufacturers. Most offer 1 year, this one has a 7 year.

The modular cables are worth a little extra $, better than the fixed cable model.

Solved my video card power issues instantly.

Dont hesitate, it is a very good PSU

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy-Duty Modular Power Supply by Corsair, Pumps Out MORE Than Its Rated 750W!, December 1, 2009

This review is from: Corsair HX Professional Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 - CMPSU-750HX (Personal Computers)
There's quite a few reasons why I keep coming back to Corsair PSU's for my PC builds, and frankly I don't know exactly where to start the accolades, but first off I should mention one word: POWERFUL! It's true, the Corsair PSU in general is looked at by competitors and loyal users alike it seems, and that one word "Powerful" pretty much sums up the basic premise all Corsair PSU's are built upon. If they say "750W" rating, you can count on a bunch more Watts being accessible in a pinch, when you need it most. I don't have all the equipment necessary to fully test one of these rigs correctly, but I can write this for certain: I have been to the well and looked deep, deep down into the bottom with this PSU, and the verdict is in...there was more power where the 750W came from, power to spare when I needed it!

The modular nature of the Professional Series of Corsair PSU's has been imitated by many other manufacturers by now, and that is another very strong point the HX-series has going for it. The cables that Corsair gives you to complete the build are long enough to do the job, too, which is another plus. I just built up a new HAF 922 case for the first time, and I can report that the Corsair HX750's auxillary cables that the manufacturer furnished were plentiful enough, and long enough to make all the connections necessary with completely hidden cables behind the motherboard tray--so it looks fantastic, too!

I am guessing of course, but I think that the HX750 PSU should give a computer another 75W to 100W or so of reserve power over the 750W that they say it WILL output, so effectively what you get when you put the HX750 online is an 825W-850W PSU, somewhere in there is my best estimate. That is a comforting feeling when you are working with a hot Core i7 920 CPU that is gonna be overclocked to the tune of 4Ghz and higher 24/7, doing Folding@Home, which is going to stress the PSU to the max all the time it's on...not to mention a stress-inducing GTX 285 video card that will suck off another 200-300W of power at its extremes when playing a high-intensity video game at ultra high resolution. There's a lot of security that goes into the decision to install an HX-series Corsair PSU, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I can afford anything I want in terms of PSU's for builds like the above, and every time I choose Corsair, no matter what the competition says, or does, or offers, and there are some doozies out there right now!

Bottom line? You get what you pay for with a given PSU, and with the HX-series from Corsair you get the best in the industry, no promises unfulfilled, no excuses made up...these are the real deal, and I am always in a good mood, and feel very secure and well-equipped when I pull the plug and push the button to turn on a new PC for the first time. Corsair PSU's are the best, the only PSU's that I install in my PC builds, and I just won't settle for anything less than Corsair PSU's.

I've gone through several Thermaltake and Antec power supplies before switching to this Corsair.

I've bought the 850, 650 and 550 models, and they are all excellent!

Has very accurate voltage outputs and the modular cabling on the 850 and 650 is very handy.

These are without a doubt the best power supply units I've used to date!

5.0 out of 5 stars Silent and high quality PSU, August 10, 2009

This review is from: Corsair HX Professional Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 - CMPSU-750HX (Personal Computers)
Why I bought this PSU? Because I've read a lot of good reviews of this one and they are right! This is a modular PSU with flexible cables which is very good for cable management, very silent and has enough juice to power up a SLI or Cross Fire setup since this has single 12V rail.

I recommend this PSU to all PC enthusiast.
