Well thought design. October 2, 2010
Style Name:A70
Length: 0:31 Mins
Pros: well thought out design, comes with silver thermal paste, 2 120mm fans, creates good air flow, no led lights
con: poor instructions ( read on for instillation tips)

My push pin cooler was not making even proper contact and causing high heat with freezes and and crash on full load. Temps used to be 43 c idle and 89 c full load (prime 95 stress test). computer was starting to freeze and restart upon first 10 min of gaming and video rendering. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 28 c idle and 56 c full load. So happy I could cry. Even my MSI pro-E x58 north bridge chipset, which gets up to 76 c (and know for it high heat) went down to 64 c max under full load, thanks to the extra cooling of the 2 fans. I notice only slightly quieter then intel's stock cooler. But I don't care, I can render with handbreak and temps never go over 56 c. The air flow even dropped my video card temp 5 c and northbridge chipset over 10 c.
The fins are curved-in on one side to create a space that the fan doesn't get to close to to allow proper airflow. I would have to say directions for fan placement could of been better documented for newbies. The corsair logo side of the fan is the side the air will flow out from. bare black side pulls air in. So corsair logo goes to curved-in fins and the logo out fan goes to the fins that are curved outward. You will understand when you open the box. Logo out fan faces the back of the case or what ever way you air exhausts air out of the case. Also the rubber washers go on the plastic separator that is located on the back bracket for intel. Again lack of documentation. Fans go on heatsink after motherboard is screwed back in case and wires are plugged in.

Yes you will have to pull motherboard out to get this on. So what. if that is to much work for you, then don't get this heat-sink. You can't dock it stars for your lack of initiative to do it properly. Follow directions on screwing the heat sink on. one turn per screw going around clockwise till it is tightened in place to insure that it makes even contact. It comes with silver paste. Guys if you complain this woman made it work just fine.

Defiantly big but not a con cause I knew that when I purchased as well as I knew I had to pull MB so that is not a con. I have an Antec 900 case and it just barley fits with half inch from the side panel. I love the snap on fans. This design was well thought out. No led lights (I like that). watch out if you have high profile ram, or a large northbrige heatsink....measure. Posted a short video and picture of what it looks like in antec 900 with a msi pro-e x58MB, sorry for poor lighting it was night on video and pic better w/ flash (FYI on pic, fans were spinning over 2000 rpm and my fz35 camera makes them look like they are not moving)

Specs:
i7 930
MSI pro-e x58
6gb DDR3 1600 ram Kingston-x casl 8
NVIDIA gtx 275
PSU corsair 750 watt
case Antec 900

Big and full of Muscle March 14, 2011
Style Name:A70
I tried several fans including a water cooler (H50) nothing seemed to really get the job done. I am running a 780i mobo and a Q9650 quad with 2 GTS450 video cards. Its overclocked to 3.75 and really kicks out the heat especially with something like FSX or Lockon FC2. The A70 is big and just barely fits in the HAF 932 full tower case. You have to get behind the motherboard and fortunately the 932 lets you pull the back panel and doesn't require you to pull the main board. It comes with a very simple "X" shaped back plate and four cap screws to secure the fan to the CPU. The 120mm fans are big and move some air. This fan is across the board a better solution to my heat problem than water. I was stunned at the difference. It doesn't manage the heat quite as well as the water cooler during the build phase but idle temps, maximum temps and time to reduce heat immediately after program close is better than the water cooler. The water system (H50) was not the most expensive but it was a closed fluid cooling system touted to be "of course" substantially better than air. Not rue in this case. The A70 is a very serious fan for serious PC users. If your not ready for a big solution...get something else. Comes with its own compound. The written instructions are so bad its really sort of funny. You have very brief lines of english that tell you just enough to get you mad then there is a mountain of information in several languages of choice if your in Europe or South America. Surely someone at Corsair gets a great giggle during staff meetings when the A70 subject comes up. Worth every penny of whatever you spend. Can't go wrong.

Nice Cooler May 15, 2011
Style Name:A70|Amazon Verified Purchase
Does the job well. However, the instructions are weak and a little mechanical aptitude goes a long way. I would suggest figuring out how it goes together before you install the cooler.

Very good solution for air ... well done for CORSAIR.
Very low and stable temperature in OC core i7, is large, moderate weight and color neutral, very good product I recommend if you want air cooling.
