First off i did not buy this ram from amazon because they were out of stock when i was looking to purchase some but i would have if they had it in stock at the time
Anyway, I just did a new system build with this ram and it is simply amazing, paired with a Intel I7 920 it allows Tri Channel support with utilizes the rams full potential. If you are looking for a new system build and want some ram that will never give you problems then this corsair ram should be at the very top of your list. When you first install it it will be at 1333mhz but once you start up go into your bios menu and set it at the 1600mhz and it will be simply amazing. For ram and power supplies stick with corsair, price is a little higher for corsair but we all know these days better items always cost a little more and you get what you pay for

Listen, there was a great article on lifehacker.com (http://lifehacker.com/5415355/do-you-really-need-more-than-4gb-of-ram) that explained that you don't really need more than 4GB of ram, but if you're gaming what the heck, get this three pack and enjoy the extra applications you can have open. If you're running steam, L4D2, Chrome or Firefox, and decide you want to play your ITUNEs in the background you're going to want those extra gig's of ram. If you're using a core i7 processor your system is made to run tri-channel, and what better way than to run three 2GB sticks!
I love it. I'm running stock everything, no OC, and have a 5.9 on my Windows hardware score. MoBo: Asus P6T Processor: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.6GHZ PSU: Corsair 750 Watt 750TX HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB RAM: This stuff DDR3 3x2GB Video: XFX Radeon 5770 Monitor: ASUS VW246H Got it all on Amazon, and I love it all!

I originally built my PC with 6 GB of this memory in summer 2010 (Win7 64 bit). It has been awesome from day 1. I have it slightly overclocked, but nothing crazy. Absolutely rock solid. I have it in a ASUS P6X58D Premium motherboard. I finally decided to up it to 12 GB. Installed it, no problems with MB or Win 7. Works great. Should be enough to last for a long time.

I've purchased two of these kits, about 6 months apart to go into a i7 gaming rig (i7 930 on a MSI Big Bang-XPower). The memory itself is rock solid, the only issues I had stemmed from the motherboard (Didn't like having all of its slots filled and X.M.P enabled, bios update took care of it). Unfortunately I haven't been able to test its overclocking potential as my CPU (D0 stepping even) is a dud and won't go over 140.
I do however, run multiple VMs on my machine (Arch Linux for development, CentOS to act as a server, Win7 for a sandbox, and OSX for iOS development; usually the two nixes and Windows are running concurrently in either a Windows 7 or Linux host). These obviously suck up the memory, so I'm constantly loading up these modules. Not a single issue once the BIOS update was done. Update your motherboard BIOS if you're having issues! This machine also serves as a 3d gaming rig, and in that respect the memory still (unsurprisingly) works flawlessly. For the price, this is great memory from a reputable manufacturer. Great speed, great stability, the heat spreader is secured nicely. If you're looking for mid-level/budget memory, this is what I'd buy. Highly recommended. |
