5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable and fully compatible with MACbook pro 2.5
I recommend this Corsair memory product to all, installed in my new Macbook pro 2.5 (leopard and Vmware Fusion beta 2.0 "windows xp and vista) and its been 2 weeks and no problems.
My friend purchased his memory from another manufacturer and he was having
intermittent problems with his new Mac with application crashing.

I rated this one star for the fact that it did not work in my new MacBook and that Corsair's performance claims are overblown.

I bought this for a 1 day old White Macbook (late Jan '09 model) to go from 2GB to 4 GB and I immediately had problems on start-up. Also, it caused weird video artifacts and I could only guess that this is due to the fact that the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, August 2, 2008

Wow, I'm amazed in the difference in my white MacBook. I upgraded it from 1Gb and now it's flying. Easy installation and believe me it does really a great difference if you are upgrading from 1 or 2 gig. But if you are upgrading from a non-low-latency I think there's no need nor improvement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great boost to Macbook Pro, May 15, 2008
This review is from: Corsair VSA4GSDSKIT667C4 Mac Memory 4GB 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz 200-Pin SODIMM Memory for Apple Laptops (Personal Computers)
I had to upgrade my RAM from 2GB to 4GB as I was running Win XP on a virtual machine using Parallels and felt that upgrading the RAM will make my Mac OS and Windows programs run more fluidly and it did so. Great product, works without any problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, May 9, 2008
This review is from: Corsair VSA4GSDSKIT667C4 Mac Memory 4GB 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz 200-Pin SODIMM Memory for Apple Laptops (Personal Computers)
I was looking for memory for my Macbook Pro that was both high quality and reliable. These chips have been nothing but that so far. I received them, had them installed in about 5 minutes, no problem installing them, and then booted up. There is no real difference in most of the categories, however when working with large graphics files there is a huge difference. I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for 4 gigs of memory for their Macbook, Macbook Pro, or iMac.

The RAM installed easily. I just followed the steps I found on the internet. And, most importantly, the rebate arrived. For a small amount of money, I was able to upgrade my mac mini. Very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Macbook Pro 2.2 - 2 GB -> 4GB Upgrade, July 16, 2009
By
This review is from: Corsair VSA4GSDSKIT667C4 Mac Memory 4GB 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz 200-Pin SODIMM Memory for Apple Laptops (Personal Computers)
The memory was installed and recognized without no issues. 5 Min upgrade job. No issues found so far to my notice. VMWare - Win XP performance improved marginally, not a drastic difference, was hoping for more. Rebates - not so friendly from this company, had issues earlier. Specs: Macbook Pro 2.2 Core 2 Duo - 2 GB -> 4GB Upgrade

I rated this one star for the fact that it did not work in my new MacBook and that Corsair's performance claims are overblown.

I bought this for a 1 day old White Macbook (late Jan '09 model) to go from 2GB to 4 GB and I immediately had problems on start-up. Also, it caused weird video artifacts and I could only guess that this is due to the fact that the nVidia video card uses motherboard ram for video ram so the corsair ram problems also showed up in video?? I double checked for proper chip insertion and it was fine.

I reinstalled the OEM ram and all problems went away. Reading other Mac boards, others have had issues with this set. However, this product has been out a while and I see here that previously 11 of 12 had good success - so who knows. Regardless, I will try another brand.

By the way, Corsair's product web site claims that "Testing has demonstrated that as much as a 28% overall system performance improvement is achieved with the new Corsair low latency memory modules versus standard Mac upgrade memory". I found that BareFeats (a popular Mac testing site) ran multiple benchmarks that showed that Corsair's CAS 4 "optimized" ram resulted in less than a 1% real world performance improvement over "standard" CAS 5 ram. If you buy this stuff, do so because of its price, but dont expect that you will notice better performance over "standard" PC2-5300 memory. (Obviously, if you are going from 1GB or 2 GB to 4GB you will see nice improvements).

Update 2/28/09: I bought 4 GB of a different brand (OWC) with the same specs and the MacBook works great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Caused increasingly frequent crashes after one year, November 12, 2011

This review is from: Corsair VSA4GSDSKIT667C4 Mac Memory 4GB 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz 200-Pin SODIMM Memory for Apple Laptops (Personal Computers)
A little more than a year after installing this product, I began to get system crashes (darkened screen with message saying you must restart). It happened most often when watching video at news sites like CNN, or at web pages with animated advertisements, so I thought it was a problem with video based on Adobe Flash. The problem became increasingly frequent over the last few months to the point where it could occur about every 10 minutes no matter what the MacBook was doing.

I'd previously heard that RAM either works or it fails, so I didn't think the problem was the RAM. But before taking the MacBook in for repair ($$$), I did an experiment. I still had the old RAM, so I put it back in and went to a video-intensive news web page. No problem for nearly an hour. I've been using the computer for many hours now -- no crashes. Huh! Somehow this Corsair RAM has what may be an unusual and deceiving failure mode.

1.0 out of 5 stars Caused iMac to freeze up, June 28, 2010
This review is from: Corsair VSA4GSDSKIT667C4 Mac Memory 4GB 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz 200-Pin SODIMM Memory for Apple Laptops (Personal Computers)
I have had good results with Corsair ValueSelect in the past for non-Apple machines. So when I saw that Corsair offered Mac memory, I decided to buy the Mac memory instead of the ValueSelect for use with my late 2007 iMac.

Unfortunately, after installation my iMac started freezing up randomly a few times a week. It was extremely frustrating, but worse these freeze ups corrupted my hard drive to the point where my iMac would not boot. I had to restore from backup twice. Since others have posted better experiences, I suppose I just got a defective batch.

I returned this Corsair Mac memory 2x2GB kit (VSA4GSDSKIT667C4), and bought the Corsair ValueSelect 2x2GB kit (VS4GSDSKIT667D2) instead. It was cheaper, but more importantly my iMac has not frozen up since installing the ValueSelect. I have been very happy with the ValueSelect kit.
