Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Vengeance 1100 Communication Headset: lightweight audio that's great for gaming, VOIP, and video calling

Vengeance 1100 Headset
The Vengeance 1100's lightweight design provides a comfortable and secure fit.

Lightweight, behind-the-head design

The Vengeance 1100 gaming headset rests lightly on the ears for audio that's heard, but not felt. Clever ergonomics help keep the 1100 firmly in place, so your audio gear never interrupts your gaming, chatting, or video sessions.

40mm audio drivers

The 40mm drivers — extraordinarily large for a lightweight headset — deliver audio with fidelity, accuracy and range that lets you really get into the game and hear your friends and opponents with detailed clarity. And since it's not always about gaming and video calling, the carefully tuned audio will do justice to your favorite music and movies, too.

High-sensitivity noise-cancelling cardioid microphone with flexible boom

Whether you're barking instructions to your teammates or chatting with old friends, you deserve to be heard. The microphone's tuned to capture your voice loudly and clearly, while screening out distracting background noises. It flexes to fit your face, and flips out of sight when you're not using it.

USB to 3.5mm adapter
Connect using 3.5mm analog cables or use the included USB adapter — it's your choice.
USB and analog connections for universal compatibility

The dual 3.5mm connectors work with virtually any sound card and any PC with onboard audio. Or, attach the included USB adapter for great-sounding audio with a single connection. It's PC and Mac friendly and great for gaming on the go.

Soft-touch materials and elastomer headband lining

Vengeance 1100 feels good in your hands and good on your head. The advanced elastic polymer design gives you get a fit that's snug and reliable, without the binding or pinching you might experience on lesser headsets.

The plastic is bendable and the ear pieces won't easily break.
Terry Mesnard
The problem is the fit, after an hour or two of wearing these they start to hurt my ears and they also force me to bend the band a bit to set them on my head.
Ryan D.
The fit snug but are very comfortable, and the audio quality if excellent; even listening to music on this headset sounds great.

The headphones are behind the head style and are two-tone black and light blue plastic construction, with the black on the outside of the supporting bracket. The ear pieces are hard plastic disks, about two inches in diameter, black with light blue accents with quarter inch thick foam rubber toward the ear for cushioning. The left disk has an oversized boom microphone, about 6 inches in length, which swivels up and down over 180 degrees. Overall they seem to be sturdy and well constructed.

The cable that connects the headphones is different from others I have seen, with the wires being covered by woven material that is very flexible and is more like fabric than the usual rubbery coating. This makes it less likely that the headphones will be dislodged with the slightest move. There is a handy volume control that was located at about waist level on the cable, which also contains a handy switch to turn the microphone on or off.

The headphones are sized just about right for my head and ears so no adjustment was needed. They are very comfortable, with the bracket exerting just enough tension to keep them tightly in place without collapsing my skull or squashing my ears flat.

I played a few games on my PC using the headphones without making sound adjustments and found the performance adequate, though not spectacular. Then I went into the driver properties and checked the Bass Boost, Headphone Virtualization, and Loudness Equalization boxes to see if it made any difference. By checking and un-checking them individually, I found that they all greatly enhanced the sound, with the Bass Boost doing exactly that - adding to the booming explosions in war games, while the Headphone Virtualization feature made the sound seem to surround me.

so, I chose this headset because I get headaches with regular headsets when they pinch in below the ear. I have become a fan of corsair over time due to their mechanical gaming keyboards and simple yet perfect mice for my gaming style and hand.

I bought this headset 15 months ago. The first time it cracked it was still in the year warranty for headsets (about 9 months in). It cracked just behind the ear where the plastic bends up to become a straight line. Turn around on the warranty repair was quick, 2 days in their hands and another sent out immediately. Shortly after that, my good friend had the same thing happen to his Corsair 1100 headset. Since we bought them about the same time, he assumed it might have just been a bad batch of plastic.

15 months in, today it broke again. about 8 months after the 1st break. It is no longer in warranty. I will not be buying a new one.

I've never cracked or broken headset before. I am a hardcore gamer and treat my headsets well, as well as my other gear. Usually a headset goes bad right at the volume adjuster at the cable with extensive use.

So, my records show 3 out of 3 headsets between my friend and myself that all cracked around 8-9 months of use. It isn't the most expensive headset, but I cannot afford to replace it right now with PAX coming up.

Let me explain, the headphones have great sound and the mic is great for Vent and Teamspeak.
The problem is the fit, after an hour or two of wearing these they start to hurt my ears and they also force me to bend the band a bit to set them on my head. I've had them for a few months;the headset was not taken out of the house, did not receive any physical trauma, and still the band snapped right in the middle on the right hand side, the side I use to place and remove the headset on my head. I'd give the headset an actual 3 out of 5 stars.

The service is a different story. I filled out an RMA request form and told them my experience and was given a shipping label. Sent in the old one and received a brand new headset in a few days. Awesome service Corsair, keep up the good work.

I scoured the intertubes for a looong time before settling on these headphones. I had one requirement: They must work with Ubuntu Linux out of the box. And joy of joys they do! The headset was immediately recognized by the system after plugging them in. Skype works. Everything just works. My elation stems from the fact that nothing else ever has (including the Logitech headset they replace).

So you know: 64 bit Ubuntu 11.10 (XFCE). Thinkpad T510.

As others have said, they're kinda snug. But not enough to subtract a star.

Since Amazon has put the reviews for different products together... this is a review for:
Corsair CA-9011113-WW Vengeance 1100 Gaming Communication Analog/USB Headset

FYI that I'm using mine on a Mac, specifically a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air.

The Air has one combined audio in/out jack, so I figured I would need to use the USB jack for that. It didn't work out of the box, but with some googling I eventually figured out how to make it work: Go to System Preferences and Sound when the unit is plugged in, and you will be able to select the input and output device as this headset. (And without the USB, you can use the headset as earphones only or as mic only through the regular jack.)

The jack setup means that while you could use these for iPhones or the like (the jack is the right size), again, you could have only one of input/output, but not both.

Pros:
1. The sound is good and it appears that the mic works well, too. For the price, these are great.
2. In-cord volume adjustment (for earphones) and mute (for mic)
3. Boom mic is easily repositioned, including out of the way
4. Fabric cord is classy and sturdy, and has a velcro keeper for extra cord length.

Cons:
1. Scaled for small heads (you can tell just by looking at them), and not very comfortable. I think they're maybe even contoured wrong, the way that they dig in at the back of the ears.

Bottom line:
1. These are really good for the price, but just not comfortable. They'd be fine for occasional skyping. They're too uncomfortable for gaming or even as regular headphones. But they sound great.
