I chose this memory for my first build because it was cheap and from a well known brand. I also liked that it didn't have the big heat-sinks like on the regular Vengeance RAM which allows room for aftermarket CPU heat-sinks. My PC is used mainly for gaming and Netflix, and 8 GB is more than enough for those needs. The only problem I had was the BIOS detecting them as 1333 mHZ instead of 1600, but a quick change in the BIOS fixed that that. Changing the frequency to 1600 mHz also increased the timings from 9-9-9-24 to 11-11-11-2?, so i had to manually change them as well, so be on the lookout for that. The timings issue is from my BIOS though and says nothing bad about the RAM. It works flawlessly; definitely recommended.

UPDATE (28 Dec. 2012): No problems after more than a year. I eventually brought the frequency back down to 1333MHz and was able to tighten the timings to 7-8-7-22. Stable, no problems.

The main advantage this RAM brings to the table is the Low Profile Heat Spreader attached to the DIMMS. If you are working in a cramped case (like myself, Silverstone FT-03) or are planning to use a large aftermarket cooler, this is the memory for you!

The RAM includes an intel X.M.P. profile for easy configuration. Just configure your motherboard to use the X.M.P profile and you will automatically have your timings and voltages configured for you.

I ran Memtest86+ for 5 hours with no errors, so there should be no problems in terms of reliability and longevity.

I am planning to purchase another 8GB kit down the road, but for now 8GB's will do fine.

There is also a low voltage model that comes with white heat spreaders.

This works nicely with my mobo setting on XMP. Fit nicely in the slots, sturdy and solid. Booted right up with no memory errors.

The thing I liked about these sticks is that it fits nicely under my CPU cooler with no clearance issues. I think the extreme epeen fins on some of the RAM may look fancy, but may not clear your CPU cooler if you're using air cooling. Particularly if you try to slot them in the first slot next to the CPU. These low profile barely clear the fins on the hyper 212 when put in slot one, in this mobo. So if you're considering buying the taller sticks, take this into consideration.

I'm overclocked to 4.5ghz with two 120mm front fans, 1 120mm rear fan, and a 200mm top fan and my mobo and cpu temps are barely above room temp at idle and never come close to any danger zone even at max settings stress testing using Intel Burn Test.... I may receive flames for this, but that leads me to conclude that the finned RAM sticks are pretty much for show.

Great value, great name brand, would highly recommend this RAM for your overclocked air cooled rig, or any other set up for that matter.

I was changing my Patriot ViperX memory which i could never set to work, and i don't mean overclocked, i mean WORK. It never stay a single week at any frequency or voltage or timing settings, not at rated settings or XMP and not even at default settings. (probably compatibily issues with my ASUS P7P67 PRO board)

This ones were just perfect, plug them in, configure to the XMP profile, and done. Stable since then.

Cons: Don't expect anything beyond the rated specs. It won't go to any frequency beyond 6000Mhz and it won't do better timings than the ones on the specs.

It's Ram. It comes in sticks. They are black and have some writing on them. Whoopee. Fancy aluminum esque heat sink things, totally worth the price for that. In seriousness, this RAM didn't do anything abnormal. No crashing or bugging, worked fine with my MB and processor, and the computer goes like skunk. That said, it's RAM. It does it's job and is cheap. I'm not enough of a technophile to get into the complex eccentricities of why this RAM is exciting or what gives it an edge over "other brand of RAM that comes in black stick with slightly different heat sink aluminum hat/handle thingy." It worked as expected/recommended, I have had no troubles, I would buy it again, and it's relatively low profile aluminum hat thingy is nice in tight spaces like my tiny case full of wires. 5 stars to this RAM as they said it was RAM, and I got RAM, RAM that does it's RAMing flawlessly as I can tell. RAMs as advertised.
