I see a lot of reviews pointing out that this RAM runs at 1333 when installed and you first power on your PC. This is true. However, this RAM is compatible with the X.M.P. Profile that is in almost all newer Motherboards BIOS that supports this speed (1866) anyway. Usually found in the overclock section of the BIOS is an Extreme Memory Profile that is by default disabled. Select, say, profile 1 and the RAM should instantly run at 1866MHz without affecting any other factors. I did confirm that once the XMP Profile is used the timings are in fact 9-10-9-27.

Windows Experience Index rates my RAM at the max 7.9 which ties my OCZ SSD and CPU, an Intel i7 2600K overclocked to 4.5GHz using a Corsair Hydro H70 Liquid Cooling solution.

I only have 2 of these for 8GB and Plan on getting 2 more for a total of 16GB. The RAM is superb in my opinion and should definitely be considered if you want to run it at it's advertised speed. If you Motherboard supports XMP Profiles, it's simple to get it running at 1866. If not, other overclocking methods need to be utilized as others have pointed out to get to the advertised speed or beyond. Scoring a 7.9 in WEI is all I need though, so overclocking the RAM further seems pointless to me.

First, of the 4 sticks I bought 1 was unstable. After further examination I noticed the heat sink was loose and this may have been causing an issue. As always, amazon replaced it no questions asked.

As others have said default is 1333. On an ASUS P8Z68-Pro I let the ASUS Automatic OC tool in their AI Suite II deal with these setting it to Extreme. It determined them to be most stable at about 1600. I left it alone after that as I've tried to push RAM before and have only brought trouble onto myself. Although these could probably run fine over 1800 I'm not comfortable with it given the 1 bad stick I already had.

For the price they are good RAM.
-1 for the bad stick I received
-1 for the low default settings

This is the first time I've purchased Corsair RAM and so far I haven't been disappointed. The heat spreaders are taller than I expected but that hasn't presented an issue in my case and they are high quality. If you have a small case you might want to check some dimensions before your purchase but I wouldn't imagine this would be an issue for most users building performance boxes. The only thing I found a little strange (and this is because of my inexperience up to that point) was the RAM being advertised as 1866 when it's actually 1333. The reason for this is the XMPP overclocking profile that has to be set in BIOS/UEFI. I didn't understand this at first and was a little distraught when my system kept recognizing it as 1333. After I set the profile in UEFI, it appears as 1866 each time. Most builders probably know this anyway, but I thought it would be worth mentioning for any would-be system builders.

Work perfectly currently OC to 1866 running perfectly, no crashed and so far temp is controlled by two system fans, I play HAWKEN, Battlefield 3 full blast no problem, temperature within manufacturer guidelines

Running on my 970A-G46 motherboard, with 8Gb Corsair Vengance running @ 1866, video handle by a EVGA GTX650 TI and a 650watts power supply... all cooled by 2 system fans and the FX standard cooler.

I didn't buy the memory from Amazon but I just built an Ibuypower Chimera 4-FX with this memory and like others, had to enable XMP to get the 1866 speed. This is some fast ram and completely stable...I should went with 16GB and I think I will upgrade.

Here is my build...

I'm running a Gigabyte Z77M mATX board with an Ivy Bridge i5 CPU. I have also run these sticks in a MSI H77M board, before exchanging it for the Z77M. On the MSI, which has far less overclocking options, these sticks boot at 1333MHz by default. To make them hit 1600MHz, you just have to go into the BIOS and enable XMP. Letting the board handle things, the MSI H77M set it to 1600MHz at 9-10-9.

On the Gigabyte Z77M, it also defaults to 1333MHz. Setting XMP to "Profile 1" set it to 1866MHz at 9-10-9. Again, this is without messing with timing or voltages, or anything one generally has to do to OC. Upon boot into Win7, however, I found out the memory is actually running at 1883MHz. I didn't even realize it was running that fast until I doubled (since it's DDR) the DRAM frequency. It was automatic. That's not a huge leap from spec, but anyone who says these sticks can't hit their advertised speed either got a bad set or isn't doing it right.

Superb product works ALMOST out of the box. Just enable XMP, and watch you Windows rating max out at 7.9
