Product Description

Style: 1500 v2 - USB Dolby 7.1

Product Description

The Corsair Vengeance 1500 headset delivers high performance gaming audio over USB. Accurate Dolby 7.1 multichannel audio helps you pinpoint your enemies' location before they see you. Large 50mm drivers offer better bass response and crisp, clear midrange sound and the noise cancelling microphone lets you be heard loud and clear. The closed-back, circumaural ear cups reduce environmental noise for a more immersive gaming experience. Plus the large ear cups feature microfiber-covered memory foam ear pads for hours of comfortable gameplay.

From the Manufacturer

Vengeance 1500 provides easy one-cable USB connection and Dolby Headphone technology for outstanding multi-channel gaming audio.

Immersive, high fidelity Dolby 7.1 multi-channel gaming audio and superior comfort for competitive gaming

Vengeance 1500 delivers accurate reproduction of 5.1 and 7.1 channel gaming audio for an enveloping experience and the tactical advantage of being able to pinpoint your enemies’ location before they see you. The comfortable, closed-back design makes it ideal for long play sessions, and the advanced noise-cancelling microphone helps ensure clear communication.

Dolby Headphone puts you in the middle of the action

The remarkable Dolby Headphone technology accurately reproduces multi-channel gaming audio for precise situational awareness and the competitive edge you can only get through positional audio. It also helps reduce “headphone fatigue,” which is essential if you play competitively or if you just enjoy playing for hours at a time.

Amazing sound

The massive 50mm drivers greatly reduce the overloading and distortion that can occur with gaming headsets that use smaller drivers that aren’t up to the task. You’ll get more accurate sound reproduction, particularly for the all-important low-frequency effects.

Superior comfort

The extra-wide, extra deep earcups make the Vengeance 1500 feel as good as it sounds. The memory foam earpads with microfiber covers provide a comfortable and reliable fit that conforms to the contours of your head without binding or pinching.

Intense, immersive gaming

The circumaural, closed-back design blocks distracting sounds and keeps your head in the game, and the extra-large inline volume and microphone control is easy to grab and use when the action heats up — you don't need to take your eyes off the screen.

Whether you're commanding your teammates or simply sharing the moment while playing with old friends, you deserve to be heard. The unidirectional, noise-cancelling microphone is tuned to capture your voice loudly and clearly, while screening out extraneous noise from outside your game. Said all you have to say? It’s easy to flip the mic out of sight when not in use.

Style Name: 1500 v2 - USB Dolby 7.1 Verified Purchase
First off, the product is very good. The construction seems stout and the microfiber and memory foam are very comfortable. The virtual 7.1 effectively communicates 3D sound and the large drivers make for a great experience for those who just enjoy music and youtube. For gaming, the 3D experience is night-and-day better, especially for FPS games. My only knock would be that the default settings are not very good and the software, while it is very easy to adjust audio settings, provides no way to actually test the settings as you play with them. Some 5.1 and 7.1 music or FX samples to play while you tinker with the settings would be helpful. My test game was Crysis 3 and the main characters voice sounds very distant and small with default settings. It wouldn't be a big deal if you could play with the tuner bars while the game is open but instead you have to play wack-a-mole and guess which bar needs to be moved.

Bonus points for Amazon: The price dropped $20 bucks a few days after the purchase and customer service was happy to refund me the $20 bucks. That fifth star is for you, Amazon.

Style Name: 1500 v2 - USB Dolby 7.1
I recently decided to splurge on a headset and get one that costs more than 30 bucks. I went with the logitech G430 and ended up returning them within days because the sound quality was terrible and the 7.1 was nothing more than a poorly tuned reverb. After returning those I decided to spend a bit more and go with these, and I have to say I am very satisfied. My test game was Crysis 2, the G430s would distort slightly at loud bangs and I could not identify locations by sound, these sounded crystal clear and shots coming from behind me sounded like they were behind me. Even in games like Guild Wars 2 where 5.1 is supported im still able to tell when something is behind me (VERY useful for PVP). People on skype tell me I sound like im not even using a mic which I imagine means no static or distortion. They dont hug your head too much and feel just right, and while they are itchy the first few times you wear them, it eventually goes away and they become very comfortable (im guessing there is some kind of coating on the material). Bass is bassy and you can feel the headphones shake when lows hit, sounds are clear but still not as good as a quality sound card and good speakers but then again this is for gaming and not music/movies. Also the volume is ear shattering at max volume so be careful (You can flip the earmuffs upward and use them like speakers).

In short...

For gaming: It will give you a competitive edge thanks to clear sound and 7.1/5.1 surround and teammates will not complain of mic quality

For movies/music: It will do but there are far better choices out there for audiophiles

For VOIP/Streaming: They are great, and comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

Style Name: V2100 - Wireless 7.1
I picked the 2100 up from my local Microcenter to test against the only other set I have at the office, a set of Monster Inspiration w/ noise cancelling, plus the built-in powered amp.

These are very bright in the mid to upper mids and you will notice those frequencies stand out noticeably on music. The 50mm drivers show good range on the low end and, depending on your taste, some might consider the bass decently powerful on tracks that have it. In some cases, the high frequencies (high hat) might feel a bit too bright. Some might like this 'crisp' sensation. I do.

If I were to attempt to portray what the spectrum feels like to me, it might look something like this:

--------------------------------------------- -
----------------------------- - - -------- - --
------------------ - - - - - ------- - - - ----
- - - - - - - - - -----------------------------

You can always trim the brightness and enhance the bass via an EQ utility, though to be honest, after tinkering around a bit, I decided they sounded best without any EQ tinkering.

The Inspiration are not as bright, which had me feeling occasionally that the sound spectrum of the 2100 was more detailed and full sounding. The 2100 also has a more spacious sound, which I prefer, while the Inspiration soundstage feels more confined.

The Inspiration might be a bit more balanced across the frequency range, especially in the upper ranges, with clear mids and highs -- they don't pop out like on the 2100s, which is either a good or bad thing, depending on your taste.

Style Name: V2100 - Wireless 7.1 Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Courtesy of the Amazon Vine program, I have received a Corsair Vengeance 2100 Wireless Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset (V2100) for review. Prior to this, I have been using a Sound Blaster EVO Entertainment Headset with Bluetooth Mobile Wireless (EVO) as my gaming headset. In what follows, I will draw a few contrasts between these two headsets from the perspective of a Mac casual gamer (~1 hours a day).

The V2100 is a 2.4GHz wireless circumaural headset with a pair of 50mm drivers. Inside the box is a USB wireless transceiver that must be used in order to use the headset. This is in stark contrast from the EVO, which can be used in USB, bluetooth, and also analog (3.5mm) mode. The selling point of the V2100 over EVO would be that it can do Dolby 7.1 wirelessly. Unfortunately, as Corsair made clear on the packaging and also on their website, Dolby 7.1 works only on Windows (version XP to 8)---there is no Mac driver yet. Therefore, for this review I have only been able to use the headset in stereo mode. It's a bit disappointing in this regard, and I can only hope that Corsair releases a Mac driver one day.

Fortunately, the V2100 is already very impressive even as a stereo headset, thanks to its 50mm drivers. In terms of audio quality, the V2100 has a discernible advantage over the EVO, which is 40mm, but the improvement is moderate only (a typical diminish of return phenomenon in headsets past the 100 dollar mark). For gaming, both the EVO and the V2100 are more than adequate. Explosions have enough oomph, and dialogue is clear and separable from background music.
